CAREER DETAIL Since Sep’10 HCL America Inc., West Chester, PA Mechanical Engineer Scope of My Work:  Design and development of new product made of plastics components and sheetmetal components.  Design of sheetmetal server cabinets and reduced the overall cost of the assembly.  Understand the product requirements and involved in creating DFMEA document to arrive at design changes or mitigation plans to tackle the failure modes.  Tolerance stack-up analysis for component design.  Design of fixture for testing the product and fabricate the fixture and also creating the rapid prototype models using 3D printing machine  Co-coordinating with client and off shore team for executing the projects.  Involve in cross functional activities between manufacturing, testing, Quality and Marketing teams for product development.  Maintain the product data and life cycle management. Main Projects Handled: Title: Design of Low Cost Insulin Pump (Medical device) Description: Design of low cost Insulin Pump from scratch. It involves identifying the areas where the cost of the product can be reduced, enclosure design for electrical components and PCB placements and strength. Tolerance Stack-up analysis for component placement and design. Creating prototypes and testing for product development. Design Fixtures for testing. Developing test design and writing protocols for testing product. Title: Release of a new semiconductor tool Description: Released and managed the documentation of major sub-assembly of the tool. Received inputs from product manager and clients, studied the requirements, estimated work, broke down and assigned tasks to a team of 7 members. Checked all drawings and documentation and released them using engineering change order (ECO) system called SmarTeam. Title: Design of Cabinet Frame & Door Assembly and Tolerance Stack-up Analysis Description: Right from concept design to final product release, did all stages of design activities for Server Cabinet assembly. This project also involved Stack-up analysis for the double door with the frame assembly. With 3 team members I completed this project successfully, monitoring the progress and quality of delivery. Design the heat shield for the given environment using surface design considering the various factors like design feasibility, assembly feasibility and also manufacturing feasibility. Design and Development for Cold static gaskets and Hot static gaskets (including engine cylinder head gaskets and exhaust system gaskets). Depending on the type of gasket the material is decided by the client. The gasket has to be designed to adapt to the flanges/ environment to prevent leakage in the system.
