This document summarizes the issues with the current employment-based green card process and calls on high-skilled immigrants to attend a rally in Washington D.C. to advocate for legislative changes. It notes that the backlogs and per-country caps mean wait times of 15-16 years for Indian and Chinese applicants. All employment-based applicants, regardless of nationality, will likely face severe retrogression of priority dates due to limited visa numbers. The current system forces immigrants to remain in the same job and salary for 5-7 years while they wait, negatively impacting their careers and economic potential. Legislative action is needed to address issues like per-country caps and increasing visa numbers in order to establish a fairer immigration system.
