This document discusses the System 2020 project which aims to map science learning opportunities outside the classroom across Europe, examine individual learning experiences, and design strategies to support equity in science education. It will study practices in 19 EU countries, with in-depth analysis in 8, focusing on learners from underserved groups. Co-design workshops will generate strategies around access, diversity, and inclusion. The project has mapped over 2,800 science education organizations and activities across 19 countries from its database, which provides opportunities for research and collaboration, but data may not fully represent the field.
