Once upon the time, a boy is the
youngest child of a poor farmer family
that lived in a small village in Japan. The
boy was small, and never grew any bigger.
He was clever than his brothers and
sisters, but he was weak and could not
help any farm work. His parents send him
to the temple, so he could become a
priest.

The priest of the temple impressed
that boy was very obedient and clever,
but one thing that the boy never paid
heat to him was drawing cat. The
priest kept warn him not to draw cat
all over the place, but the boy still did.

One day, the boy drew some
beautiful cat on the large screen in
the temple. When the priest saw it,
he said immediately the boy must
leave the temple because perhaps
he could be a great artist and
impossible to become a good
priest.
The boy did not know what the priest meaning by saying that. He was
embarrassed to discuss this with the priest, so he left the temple.
Then, the priest gave must advice to
the boy that he has to stay in small
place and stay away from large place
at night.

He entered an unknown village at the silent night. He saw a temple that was on the top of
a large hill at the end of street in the village. He saw the light coming from the temple; he
thought that priests of the temple might not fall asleep. When he reacted there, he knocked
the door but no one answer. He pushed the door gently and looked around. Unfortunately,
the temple seem like had been abandoned because everywhere were covered with dust and
spider webs. The boy waited for long, but no one came. He saw some big white screens and
then he started to draw many cats all over the screens. He began to feel sleepy, so he lied
down and went to sleep. Suddenly, he remembered what the priest had said. He has to stay
in the small place at night. He looked around the large temple he was alone. He started
feeling frightened. He saw a little closet, so he decided to sleep there and fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, the boy was awakened by sound of fighting and screaming. It
was horrible noise. He was afraid because of the horrible noise still continued getting louder
and louder. Suddenly, the light in the temple went out. After a very long time, everything
went back to normal, but the boy did not leave the closet till morning. When he went out
from the closet slowly, he saw the blood all over the temple with a large dead rat that is
bigger than a cow. It was the goblin that scared away the priests of the temple. The goblin
had been killed by the cats that he had drawn. Later on, the villager living in peace, and the
boy became a famous artist.

“The boy who drew cats” has many points that I like. The
main character of a boy in the story is intelligent. He was cleverer
than his sibling was. First, he could answer very well all the hardly
questions that the priest had asked him. He learned quickly and
understood everything that the priest taught when he became an
assistant. Moreover, the boy usually was obedient because he listened
carefully to the priest and can do everything that the priest said.
Second, when the boy was banished from the temple, he should have
gone home, but he didn’t want to concern his parents because he
cared about them. Therefore, he decided to leave to another village,
and entered an empty temple. Third, I must say he is so brave. He
could stay alone and face the frightening night with a fear in his mind,
but he still had courage to fight it. At the end of the story, his drawing
was bringing peace to the temple, and for the villager. As a result, he
also became a famous artist. Today his paintings of cats can be seen in
everywhere in Japan. Most important, I really like the part that
related to “The cat” of this story because cat is my favorite pet.
Finally, I’m impressed of his bravery and I also envy his talent and
intelligence.

In the story, “The boy who drew cats” is showing the character of a
boy that I don’t like even if I like all the points of that story. Even though, the
boy can do everything that the priest said but one thing that he never paid heat
to the priest is drawing cat. He was disobedient his master. He ruined many
wall and drawn on the wall in the temple. That was so bad for the temple at
that time. That’s why the priest wanted him to leave. Therefore, he had to
leave. When the boy was banished from the temple, he should have gone
home. However, he did not because he was afraid that his father might punish
him. Thus, he had not back home because he did not face with his fault and his
family. He might not force himself to stay alone in the large horrible temple
that was closed because a goblin had scared away the priests and had taken
possession of the temple. The warriors tried to protect the temple by going to
kill the goblin, but those warriors were never seen alive again. It meant that the
temple was so dangerous. So I do not like when he went alone without
knowing anything well, he might cause any problem if he did not drew cat on
the wall. He did not care about his life. Finally, all these points are what I
dislike. If you were me, you wouldn’t like the person who disobey you and the
person who decide to do something without knowing it well.
