A student conducted an experiment to see what would happen if a plant was kept in the dark for periods of time. The student placed a plant in the dark for 8 hours per day over the course of 5 days. The results showed that keeping a plant in the dark can cause it to die, because plants need water and light to survive. The student learned that placing a plant in the dark for extended periods can be detrimental to the plant's health.
