- 1. Hi! Just want to share this wonderful video clips I got from the jw.org site for the plan of the new JW Headquarters. Its thrilling to think how wonderful the construction will be to have such a magnificent Watchtower. Literally, a watchtower is a type of fortification used in many parts of the world. It differs from a regular tower in that its primary use is military, and from a turret in that it is usually a freestanding structure. Its main purpose is to provide a high, safe place from which a sentinel or guard may observe the surrounding area. (wiki) One thing more to consider is the appealing comment of Bro. Pierce (GB) from The Watchtower 2012 08/15 p.17 as read: Has the Governing Body changed its mind about the closeness of the great tribulation? asked Brother Pierce. Not at all, he answered. If the great tribulation interrupts our plans, that will be wonderful, absolutely wonderful! This new Headquarters is located in Wallkill, New York. The construction plan will begin by 2013 and will take 4 years to finish once everything are all cleared. Its size is a 102-hectare (253 a.) property & located about 80 kilometers (50 mi) northwest of the existing facilities in Brooklyn, New York, where they have been since 1909.
- 2. For those who are architectures, engineers, and designers out there, isnt this a wonderful way to use fully our capability? Volunteers worked hard to construct an environment-friendly and energy efficient facility for the new headquarter. As you can read in the jw.org site: Architects have designed the buildings to be energy efficient and to conserve resources, which will result in minimal environmental impact and low operating costs. For example, the roofs of the buildings will be covered with hardy, low-maintenance plants, both to decrease the runoff of rain and to stabilize temperatures inside the buildings. The office design takes advantage of natural light for illumination. Water conservation is also a priority.
- 3. This plan was made because the old Headquarters in Brooklyn, New York makes the operation and maintenance of the facilities costly. Its understandable why this plan was made. Some 800 Witnesses will live and work at the new facility, which will include an office building, a services building, and four residence buildings. A modest museum documenting the modern-day history of Jehovahs Witnesses is also planned.
