We all remember our favorite places. You must really love this place if you want to return so badly. Or perhaps you just want to spend some more special time with Doctor Sababa, our Internal Medical consultant at Harbour City Regional Hospital. He would have amused you with his wit and wisdom, and the spontaneous combustion and thrust they generate, often mixed in unequal proportions, as he dances with the devil in the pale moonlight. Before there was artificial intelligence, he was the real thing, working in the mysterious old ways of a masterless samurai. Inside these pages live six more original stories of survival, suspense, and satire from the Sage of the Salish Sea. Sharpen your pencils. Put on your thinking caps. Like the Good Doctor, you will have six minutes to see each patient. Dont be alarmed. Think of it as an intellectual challenge. With lives in the balance.Welcome to the autumn of his Casebook. Welcome to Sababaland.

67. An eye-opener for medical and non-medical readers alike. Winkler writes with
style, irony, and wit.
Well written supposedly fictional account of a brilliant doctor of internal
medicine set mainly in the Emergency and ICU of the Nanaimo hospital. Much
of the medical jargon was over my head, but none the less- educational (thanks
to google) and lending authenticity to the dozen cases of this savant. The author
weaves humor and life stories of himself, peers and his patients into it, giving the
book a delightful lightness and reality. Looking forward to book 2 ....and the TV
series?
Fascinating read . Well written stories, great humour and interesting diagnosis of
Harbour City Medical center. The stories of pushing uphill against the flow, to
bring great medicine to deserving patients
Like in all of his books Wink writes with great wit and cleverness. Having worked at
the Harbour City Regional for many years I knew/know many of the characters
depicted which makes it all the more entertaining for me. You certainly dont
have to be in the medical field to enjoy the book but you would get more out of it
if you were. I laughed out loud throughout. Well done Dr Sababa.
Reviews of The Casebook
68. Winkler is a natural writer, and this is vintage Sababa. A
wonderful m辿lange of esoteric medical diagnoses, wit,
philosophical pearls, poetry, hospital banter, and medical
administrative satire. All stirred up by a brilliant eclectic
clinician. Required reading for anyone interested in how a
community hospital really works, alternative medical
practitioners who believe all human maladies can be cured with
a diet of seeds and kale, and for politicians and health-care
bureaucrats most of whom know little of the systems they
manage, but continue to invent and impose nonsensical
policies. Highly entertaining.
Another book of interesting cases and more interesting
Characters!! Truly a fun read can hardly wait for the next one...
