This document provides an agenda and overview for a TransTech learning pod discussion on the implications of computer technology and human potential. The agenda includes introductions, watching a trailer for the documentary "The Social Dilemma", a discussion on how technology impacts human behavior and perception, and how the Transtech community can address these issues. The host will share their perspectives on how technology has affected them personally and the questions that drive their work focusing on human consciousness and well-being with technology. Participants will then have a dialogue on their thoughts and experiences with technology and how to safeguard real-world connections from excessive screen time.
The document discusses techno stress, which is stress caused by technology. It describes some common symptoms of techno stress like frustration, anxiety, tension, and pain. It also discusses how 59% of people in a Microsoft study reported getting angry with their computers. The document then discusses strategies for coping with techno stress both personally and organizationally. It describes an activity where workshop participants discussed and drew pictures illustrating techno stress and how to reduce it.
Extrapersonal communication is communication between humans and non-human entities. It includes communication with animals through training, communication with plants through touch responses, and developing communication with robots and machines. As artificial intelligence advances, human-robot communication is increasing through voice assistants, robots that play video games, and robot secretaries that greet people and continue conversations. However, challenges remain as people may have inflated expectations of robots' knowledge and want them to display human-like emotions and opinions.
Artificial intelligence and expert systems can be used to both simulate human mental processes and allow computers to think independently. Expert systems are applications that do not require common sense, are generally well understood, can be described objectively, and where human expertise is scarce. While expert systems have advantages like permanent expertise and consistent results, they also have disadvantages like a lack of common sense and inability to explain logic. People and machines each have their own strengths when it comes to decision making.

Blockchain: User onboarding in practice.Sean O'Connor
油
This document discusses best practices for user onboarding and engagement for decentralized applications (dApps). It recommends defining user personas based on qualitative user interviews to understand user needs and problems. The messaging and microcopy within dApps should focus on framing the product in a way that solves the personas' problems and reinforces the value proposition. Common UX issues like key management, gas costs, and load times should be addressed through clear guidelines and setting proper expectations via microcopy. Organizations should structure responsibilities and goals around user research, conversion optimization, and post-signup engagement.

This particular presentation covers, at a high level, our national cybersecurity initiative. The content targets prospective high school students and delves into areas of computer science, information systems, and policy.
This document provides an overview of artificial intelligence and expert systems. It defines artificial intelligence as creating intelligent machines to understand principles of intelligence, and expert systems as computer systems that apply expertise in specific domains like medicine, chemistry, and meteorology. The document also lists some strengths and weaknesses of expert systems, such as their ability to permanently store expertise but lack of common sense or flexibility. It concludes by stating that people and machines each have their own strengths when it comes to reliability.
The document discusses challenges with community engagement and provides suggestions to address them. It notes issues with getting community members involved and confused use of technology like blogs and wikis. It recommends facilitating engagement by understanding community members' needs and perspectives, providing value and support, championing the community, and experimenting with social models and enabling technology.

While the goal of many digital spaces has been about inclusivity, equality, and diversity, the needs of neurodivergent individuals have continued to progress in relation to digital communities. While many digital spaces, presentations, and events are designed for a neurotypical audience, the needs of neurodivergent attendees, participants, and guests to digital spaces must be considered and applied in order to be equitable from the start. This presentation will detail how organizations creating digital spaces (such as a forum, Slack, Discord server, etc.), experiences/events, and communities can create, maintain, and grow their platform with neurodivergent people and their experiences not only in mind, but in focus.

What is Collective Intelligence? & can we design for increasing it? Possibly the most crucial issue of our times of change: if we don't manage to work together, we will not achieve a more rational society. (Or the other way round ...)
This document summarizes a workshop about sensory user experience (UX) design. The workshop covered topics like wearables, smart cities, and the internet of things. It discussed how technology can be designed to engage multiple human senses and emotions. Several exercises were described to help participants experience different perspectives, like communicating without sight. The document emphasized that UX design requires understanding how people interpret meaning and form memories through social and sensory contexts. Successful technology should be tailored to enhance human relationships and environments.

The 5-step process described in the document is meant to make group discussions and decision-making more inclusive and participatory. The 5 steps are: 1) gain all views, 2) make it safe to say "no," 3) spread alternative views, 4) vote and ask what it would take to come to agreement, and 5) debate issues further if needed. Using these steps helps surface minority opinions, prevent resistance to decisions, and empower group members so they feel heard and buy into the outcomes.

Webinar: LF Energy GEISA: Addressing edge interoperability at the meterDanBrown980551
油
This webinar will introduce the Grid Edge Security and Interoperability Alliance, or GEISA, an effort within LF Energy to address application interoperability at the very edge of the utility network: meters and other distribution automation devices. Over the last decade platform manufacturers have introduced the ability to run applications on electricity meters and other edge devices. Unfortunately, while many of these efforts have been built on Linux, they havent been interoperable. APIs and execution environment have varied from one manufacturer to the next making it impossible for utilities to obtain applications that they can run across a fleet of different devices. For utilities that want to minimize their supply chain risk by obtaining equipment from multiple suppliers, they are forced to run and maintain multiple separate management systems. Applications available for one device may need to be ported to run on another, or they may not be available at all.
GEISA addresses this by creating a vendor neutral specification for utility edge computing environments. This webinar will discuss why GEISA is important to utilities, the specific issues GEISA will solve and the new opportunities it creates for utilities, platform vendors, and application vendors.

5. Who am I
I'm a Human Being
I'm driven by the bigger questions in life:
'who/what am I'
'why am I here'
'what is this reality I find myself in'
'what role does technology play in all of this?'
Never stop asking questions, question everything
'Answers are for computers, questions are for Humans'
What are the implications/applications of tech on our
humanness, wellness and consciousness?
I'm a Techno realist
7. What am I?
Good question....
Truth Seeker, Thinker, Philosopher, Futurist, Author,
Therapist, Coach, Consultant, Speaker, Computer
geek, Hermit, Heretic, Cyber Shaman, Adventurer,
Holistic Hacker...
My drive:
introduce new perspectives
ask fundamental questions
shift perception
boost consciousness
enter a dialogue
8. Who are you?
<Will put these in the chat>
who and where are you?
Imagine yourself being a Superhero,
what abilities would you have and why?
9. #innertech (1)
Our Human abilities like:
Consciousness, Love, Empathy, Compassion,
Connection, Presence, Attention, Curiosity,
Imagination, Awareness, Kindness, Embodiment,
Perception etc.
How can Tech empower these abilities and how can
it diminish it? Where is the (thin) line between this
and what is the gray area in the middle?
Some examples:
10. The Empathy Machine
Experience being in a different body, having a
different skin color, having a disability/disease,
being a minority/ prisoner/ victim (domestic)
violence etc.
14. #innertech (2)
Tech can help us focus/meditate or it can
destroy our attention span
It can help us become mindful/ present
or it can keep us locked into cyberspace
It can isolate us or it can help us connect to
others
It can build our empathy (VR) or break it
(social media/smart phone use)
It can weaken our imagination (VR) but build
our curiosity (adventure gaming)
