The Coquitlam city archive collection is growing substantially due to several large donations received in 2014, most notably from the Coquitlam Heritage Society. These donations included hundreds of photographs, glass plate negatives, and other historical documents. The largest donation provided many of the archive's historic images of places like Maillardville and Fraser Mills. The growing collection is filling the 300 square foot room allocated for archives storage, so the city is now exploring options for a permanent archive location.

Trikala also has museums, a library, and is piloted by an automated bus, with the nearby monastic cliffs of Meteora nearby.

An exhibition was held at the Museum of Liverpool and the archive demonstrated potential for preservation and digitization.

Medley presentationv3Ibrd31The objectives of the Our Day Out project were to engage local communities through memory workshops with older people's groups, create an online archive of oral histories and memories from a photographic collection of day trippers to New Brighton in the 1960s, and produce a short documentary and series of postcards to share the local memories captured. The project utilized images from the Keith Medley photographic archive donated to Liverpool John Moores University to spark discussions and add context during workshops. The outcomes included an exhibition sharing the community memories captured and demonstrating the potential value of further preserving and digitizing the photographic archive.
Roger yerburgh practicum presentationRogerYerburghThe document discusses the archival processing of the Charles Lawesson collection at the South Street Seaport Library. It provides background on the library's history and collection. It then describes the challenges of processing the 13 linear feet of mixed materials in Lawesson's collection from 1939-2010 related to maritime history. The archivists established a series and subseries structure to bring intellectual control and organize the collection into areas related to Lawesson's research like ferry history, steam engines, shipbuilding and more. After processing, the collection took up 11.5 linear feet organized into 431 folders with a detailed 25 page finding aid.

A manual for a small archivesCandy HusmilloThis document is an introduction to a manual for small archives published in 1988. It provides context for the creation of the manual, which aimed to help archivists in small repositories who had limited training and resources. It describes how a committee formed by the Archives Association of British Columbia developed the manual over four years with funding from various sources. The manual was tested by archivists in small archives in British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia before publication to improve the text. The introduction also briefly defines what an archive is and the role of an archivist.

cityhallisgettingcrowded.Gilbertsaidoptionsarebeingdiscussedaboutapermanentlocationforthearchives.

TheconstructionofanewheatingandcoolingenergysystematseveralCoquitlamcivicfacilitieshasbeen
completedandisexpectedtosignificantlyreducetheamountofgreenhousegastheyemit.
InventedbyB.C.engineerJeffWeston,theThermenexSystemisawaterfilledpipewithhotandcoldends,
usingrefrigerationtechnologytocreateathermalgradient.Thetechnologyworksthroughasystemof
reclaimingenergyandhasbeenusedatthePoirierSportandLeisureComplexsince2009.
Lastyear,thecitydecidedtoadoptthesystemattheFourCornersciviccampus,whichincludestheCoquitlam
RCMPdetachment,theCityCentreAquaticComplexandtheEvergreenCulturalCentre,andallowsfuture
facilitiestohookup.
“Whenitachievesoptimumperformance,thisThermenexsystemwillhaveprevented500tonnesofCO2
[equivalent]frombeingreleasedintotheatmosphere,”accordingtoacitystaffreport.“Thisisequivalenttothe
emissionsfromconsuming215,000litresofgasolineorburning540,000lb.ofcoaleveryyear.”
Thesystem,whichhadanapprovedbudgetof$3.5million,willbefullyoperationalbyMarch.
WhileenvironmentalbenefitswereamajorreasonforthedecisiontoimplementtheThermenexsystem,itwas
alsoprojectedtosavethecityinenergycosts.However,theanticipatedsavingscouldbesmallerthan
anticipated,giventhefallingpriceofnaturalgasandoil.
PerryStaniscia,thecity’smanagerofstrategicinitiatives,saiditistooearlytosaywhatimpactfallingenergy
priceswillhaveonCoquitlam’sprojectedsavingswiththesystem.
Acomprehensivereportoutliningallthefigures,includingGHGandcostsavings,wouldbemadeavailableto
councilattheendoftheyear,hesaid.
