- 8. How do we write numbers in words? Definition 2.1: Periods are the sets of three digits into which numerals are grouped.
- 9. The first period is called the ones period. It is formed with the first three digits of the number. The second period, called the thousands period is formed with the next three digits of the number.

- 12. The table below shows the correct spelling of numbers in words. These are the number words you need to be familiar with. Other number words are just a combination of these words.
- 14. Writing Numbers in Standard and Expanded Forms So far, you have learned how to read and write numbers in words. 154 678 is in standard form, while one hundred fifty-four thousand, six hundred seventy-eight is in word form.
