The VCT Program
For my project I worked with Donna and the
VCT program
Problem: How to bring more students to the
VCT program here at BGSU.
Solution: Stronger Social Media Presence as
well as making changes to the VCT website.
Goals and Objectives
1. Increase posts on social media/increase
followers and social media awareness
2. Create a social media campaign to continue
after project is complete
3. Ensure the VCT Website is up-to-date
4. Create a VCT specific staff directory
5. Overall make information more appealing
and accessible to future students
What can we change on the Website?
First, Donna wanted to make minor changes
to ensure Data was up to date and accurate.
Second, we decided to add a Facebook
newsfeed to the Homepage of the Website.
Last, we wanted to have the VCT Staff
directory be more available and to only
include VCTs direct staff
Steps Taken
Take the CMS training course through the
university to gain access to VCT site
Meet with Donna to finalize changes for the
website
Finalize layout for changes (create mock ups)
Decided on positioning of new content
Code the new content on the server
 Launch new pages and changes

that are currently attending
Quick and easy way to get information to
students, parents and even staff
Steps Taken

Scholarship for the Facebook Page
2. Design a VCT Student Spotlight
3. Collect information for the spotlight from staff
4. Discuss the possibilities of a Twitter and
Instagram with Donna
a. Weigh pros and cons
b. Explain uses for each

Results of Solutions
 Social Media
Donna likes the Spotlight idea and layout, as you
saw the first one was posted
Donna is still deciding on where to go with the
Twitter and Instagram decisions
Followers and activity on the Facebook page have
increased but could still be doing better
Results of Solution Cont.
 Website
The changes have been implemented and approved
by Donna
We are still working on getting some correct
documents on the website
Website is inviting and utilizing cross media
promotions now
Lessons Learned
Jump at the first opportunity you have to
complete a training
Things can seem simple, but really be a lot
more complicated than they look
Only listen to the advice of your client not
anyone else
Meet with your client as much as possible
Overall
Working with Donna has been absolutely
amazing and I am very happy that I got this
opportunity to learn from her and work with her
in a professional setting.
