Volleyball has six basic skills: serve, dig, pass, set, spike, and block. The serve involves hitting the ball into the opponent's court using either an underhand or overhand motion. Passing requires bumping or passing the ball to prevent it from touching one's court, while digging is similar but allows using different body parts to save the ball. Setting directs the ball to a point where a player can spike it into the opponent's court. Spiking aggressively scores the ball over the net, and blocking stops or alters an opponent's attack by standing or jumping at the front of the net.
