Volleyball consists of two teams hitting a ball over a net to score points. It has six basic skills: serve, dig, pass, set, spike, and block. The serve is used to drive the ball into the opponent's court using either an underhand or overhand motion. Passing involves bumping or passing the ball to prevent it from touching one's court, while digging is attempting to properly handle an opponent's attack. Setting directs the ball to a point where a player can spike it over, and spiking aggressively scores the ball into the opposing court. Blocking stops or alters an opponent's attack by standing or jumping at the front of the net.
