The Franciscan Kitchen in Louisville, KY serves 400-450 meals daily to those in need regardless of background. It began in 1980 when Brother Jim Fields served 4 meals on the first day, inspired by witnessing poverty in WWII. Preparing meals requires around 100 volunteers weekly who begin working at 6 AM to serve by 10:30 AM.
