MUET, or the Malaysian University English Test, is a compulsory English proficiency test for students pursuing degrees at local universities in Malaysia. The test consists of four components - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing - to evaluate students' mastery of all four language skills. Students receive a band score from 1 to 6, with Band 3 considered the average. Those scoring Band 1 or 2 must take extra English courses, while Band 5 or 6 students may be exempted. Students can retake MUET to improve their score and must sit for all components to receive a valid result.
