What Music Means to Me
Childhood
SongThe SPICE GIRLS are a massive part of my
childhood. From music to fashion, they
were the 5 girls I inspired to be (especially
baby spice!) I remember dressing up and
doing shows with my cousins – which we
still have on tape!
And
witho
ut
doubt
I
knew every lyric to every song of their first
album ‘Spice’. I can remember watching their
film every weekend on tape, dressing in pink
and putting my hair in to bunchies just to
look like the now very glamorous and
sophisticated Emma Bunton. I liked the group
and the music because it was mostly upbeat
which was fun to dance and sing
to, especially as a young child. Even the slow
songs I would (and still) sing along to. They
During my early teenage year, N-dubz had to be my
favourite and most listened to music. I liked it
because I was changing and it was the thing to be
listening to. It was getting away from corny disco
songs and more into rap and RnB.
Even the things they would dress in rubbed off on the younger teen generation. The
most famous of all ‘dappy hat’ which was extremely ‘cool’ if you had one. As well as
the tracksuits and chains. My favourite song from the collection had to be ‘ouch’ and
featured the famous line ‘My name’s Shaniqua and what?’
As the band grew and each
member got older, the style
statred to change slightly.
And strangley enough,
everyone still loved them!
Instead of mainly rap they
included more singing which
was normally only performed
by the female member
‘Tulisa’. Then my favourite
song was ‘Girls’.
Present‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin
Thicke is my favourite song
(currently). It is newly
released and at the moment its hard to get enough of
it. I love how up beat it is and whenever it is played,
whether on my iPod or on the radio, I can’t help but
want to start dancing. And that’s what I love about it.
It’s such a feel good song and can lift anybody’s
mood.
I’d never heard of Robin Thicke before this song was release and now I own his
album because all of his songs are so easy to listen to and make you feel good. I
think that this song will slowly make it’s way out of the hits. But it will still be a
favourite and get everybody up when it
comes on.
