Yanks! - Plot Outline YANKS! is a docu-soap that follows the invasion of a rugged Scottish Highland soccer team by a group of young, hungry American players. The drama unfolds across the picturesque but “intolerant” Scottish town of Fort William, whose soccer team is renowned for decades of laughable ineptitude. The Fort William Football Club is considered the worst team in Europe. But, help is on the way, if they choose to accept it. Because in the UK - nothing is worse than a “yank” messing with their national sport. The series follows the players and coaches of this perennially last-placed soccer franchise as their small Highland town is taken over by our group of wide-eyed, handsome, young and perhaps ill-prepared American players who believe that they can take this team from "worst to first.” Add Notes or a Caption as needed. Why will people watch? This group of AMERICANS will have a chance to turn around a franchise that is the worst team in Europe – in a rugged and hostile environment where “Yanks” are typically not respected for playing “football.” And as we saw during the World Cup, viewers love the drama of seeing Americans play in “David vs. Goliath” scenarios Viewers will be glued to the comedic culture clashes, intense drama, action and suspense that will be created as this group of young AMERICANS takes on the biggest challenge in their lives - with all of the action taking place in one of the world’s most picturesque but rugged locations.

Why will people watch? The show will feature the intense rivalries (inside the team and with rival teams), relationships and alliances, team conflicts, romances, and potentially the rebuilding of the unity between the forgotten, “pathetic” team and their hometown. Audiences love the “David vs. Goliath” genre: this series will showcase that element every episode – as the stakes get higher and the intensity builds. The American players will be targets – can they rise above it all and learn to be a team with their Scottish teammates?

Marketability and Demographics Families 12-54, middle and upper middle class, mostly college educated, living in suburban and/or elite urban households (Seattle, Portland, Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto) – average HH income $70k (with a substantial impact with the rapidly expanding Latino markets). The program will attract a strong, young, global female audience (they will love the athletic, handsome cast) as well as “soccer moms” (a ratings surprise during the World Cup was this demographic tuning in to just watch the athletes). “Soccer Moms” understand soccer more than they do US football or baseball. Men/College Age/Teen Boys will watch the series because of the rugged competition, the adrenaline pumping action and the thrill of watching an underdog US team win or lose in an actual competition – not a phony or exhibition one created only for television. Families will watch together for the chance to root for their favorite cast heroes (some may be well known in their hometowns) as they overcome tremendous odds - and to see first hand the value of teamwork.

Marketability and Demographics Yanks will attract viewers that: have high Internet usage and are likely to visit social networking sites – they will go viral about what they like purchase and often wear sports related clothing and merchandise (Reebok, Nike, Under Armor, Champion) are very likely to travel frequently, take part in family vacations, “spouses only” vacations, special destinations consume/buy sports beverages, soda (Gatorade, Pepsi), chips (Doritos), fast food, pizza (Dominos), sports nutrition are pressed for time, values family time together, they look for shows that appeal to kids and adults wish to feel young (or younger) and are interested in turning “back the clock” items (medicines, clothing, exercise, diet) are influenced by “cause marketing” that prestigious companies endorse and support.

Proposed Cast: Was a potential international superstar - making appearances on the under-18 US National and helping St. John's win the 2001 Big East Conference Championship. In August 2009, Philipakos accepted a trial invitation from Danish club Vejle, but he returned to Greece after only a few days, as he was bothered by an ankle injury. In the next transfer window, in January 2010, Philipakos signed a 6-month contract with Gamma Ethniki club Chersonissos – where he is the team captain . Proposed Cast: Caleb is a well liked and popular player for the Carolina Railhawks. He is in his final years of his career – in his early 30’s – would make a great captain for the American side. Can he keep this young group focused and prepared – out of the pubs and out of trouble?. “ Joey” was the Notre Dame and NCAA men’s player of the year in 2006 (along with being the top scorer) – but turned down a chance to play in the MLS for a potential brighter career in Europe. Proposed Cast: Jamil is an American citizen born in Denmark – his father is a world famous jazz drummer. Jamil has played for some big teams over the years – both in Europe and some MLS tryouts in the USA. He has recently started a public romance with Danish model Sarah Christiansen, while playing for a small team in Denmark. . Gallardo grew up in Round Rock, Texas, and attended Westwood High School. Instead of attending college, Gallardo ventured to Mexico to train with the youth academy at Tigres of Mexico’s Top Division.Finding opportunities in Mexico limited, Gallardo returned to the USA in 2002. Cast: The Scottish Players Martin has been the captain, and played for Fort William since the age of 14. It’s 12 years later - and he is still in town. Working part-time at a whisky distillery - he has the clout to keep the peace. Wives and Girlfriends, (aka “WAGS” or often referred to as “groupies”) are sure to show up wherever there are soccer players. Handsome local player who could lose his place on the squad when the Americans arrive. Young local Sean Ellis might be the most talented player on the underachieving team. Sean is sure to be noticed once the show starts. Will he stay true to his team - or leave for greener pastures? Nicknamed “Zoomer” - not because he is quick - just the opposite: he is laughably slow witted. However, he might be the most affable and beloved player on the team. Even at age 46, if Fort William is short on players, Calum has to wear a uniform and play - against players half his age. Calum is thought by many locals to be “too soft” on his players. The Location: Fort William, UK Fort William is the largest town in the Highlands of Scotland - and is a major tourist attraction. It is also the site of the World Cup of Mountain Biking held in June. Movies filmed in or near Fort William include Being Human, Braveheart, Highlander, Restless Natives, Local Hero and Rob Roy. Fort William is also the location for many of the street scenes and exteriors for films in the Harry Potter Series. The entire opening sequence for Warner Bros. 2007 film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was shot in Fort William.
