About
After I've decided to make a career change from Dietetics, I worked on a cruise-liner in Hawaii to help me to start from scratch with a BA. After my undergrad, I have been active in the Linguistics section at the University of Cape Town as tutor, research assistant and part-time lecturer since 2007. I graduated with a PhD in Linguistics (Dec. 2016) and my thesis was about the indexicality of Afrikaans rhotic variation, place and belonging.
My research interests (ad hoc) are: variationist sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology (with focus on how linguistic practices reflect and construct place); acoustic and articulatory phonetics;
