History of University Library
 Established in the year 1993.
 Earlier located in the Administrative Building.
 Shifted to a separate building in the year 2008.
 Since inception library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of
documents that is useful for the faculty, students and research scholars
educational and research activities in the University.
 The library has a well balanced collection of ancient and modern thoughts mainly on
Social Science and Humanities.

 Display of New Arrivals
Newly procured books are displayed on every Monday for a week. Books on display will not be issued on
any account.
 Reservation
A book on loan or in display can be reserved by filling the reservation slip at the Circulation Counter.
Reserved books are kept separately in the Circulation Counter for two days for each member. If the book is not
collected, the reservation lapses after two days and the next person gets the chance.
Library Services
Renewals
are allowed only once when there is no claim by others.
 Photocopying:
Photocopying of materials, other than Theses/Dissertations available in the library are
permitted. Xeroxing may be made without violating the copyright act.
 CD-ROM Search:
Provides facility for Data base search and full text search.
 Wi-Fi : can be used for academic purpose only.
 Web OPAC : University Library has web based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for
book searching.
Library Services
General Instructions
1. Produce Library ID card at the time of entry to
the library and for issuing books.
2. Borrowers Cards to be returned to the library
before leaving the university.
3. No Dues Certificate will be issued on return of
all the library borrowers cards.
4. Please clear the dues of library before getting the
hall ticket.
5. Change in Department, Status, Address etc. to be
informed and the borrowers cards to be
corrected.
6. Private papers and non library materials not to be
left unattended on tables.
7. Please handle documents with great care as they
are costly and valuable, particularly loose issues of
journals.
8. On violation of library rules or misconduct of any
member, the library authorities can withdraw the
library facilities to him/her.
General Instructions
Please do
 Keep Silence.
 Sign the register kept at the Check Point, while
entering the library.
 Show the documents which are being taken out of the
library, to the staff at the Check Point.
 Contact the staff on duty/section staff for any queries.
 Complaint Register is maintained with the security
staff for registering complaints regarding library.
 Keep the library premises neat and tidy.
 Bring loose papers only inside the library to take
notes
Please do
 Keep mobile phone in silent mode and avoid using
inside the Library.
 Do not transfer Borrowers cards to others.
 Do not move the books/journals from its specific area
to another area.
 Do not replace the documents.
 Do not sleep in the library.
 Do not bring files, folders, text books etc. inside the
library.
 Please do not mutilate documents and do not bend or
underline the pages while reading.

Arrangement of the collection
 Books are arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal
Classification (DDC) scheme.
 Consult OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for Call
Number of a book before going to the shelf.

  • 6. History of University Library Established in the year 1993. Earlier located in the Administrative Building. Shifted to a separate building in the year 2008. Since inception library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents that is useful for the faculty, students and research scholars educational and research activities in the University. The library has a well balanced collection of ancient and modern thoughts mainly on Social Science and Humanities.

  • 35. Display of New Arrivals Newly procured books are displayed on every Monday for a week. Books on display will not be issued on any account. Reservation A book on loan or in display can be reserved by filling the reservation slip at the Circulation Counter. Reserved books are kept separately in the Circulation Counter for two days for each member. If the book is not collected, the reservation lapses after two days and the next person gets the chance.   • 36. Renewals are allowed only once when there is no claim by others. Photocopying: Photocopying of materials, other than Theses/Dissertations available in the library are permitted. Xeroxing may be made without violating the copyright act. CD-ROM Search: Provides facility for Data base search and full text search. Wi-Fi : can be used for academic purpose only. Web OPAC : University Library has web based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for book searching. Library Services
  • 37. General Instructions 1. Produce Library ID card at the time of entry to the library and for issuing books. 2. Borrowers Cards to be returned to the library before leaving the university. 3. No Dues Certificate will be issued on return of all the library borrowers cards. 4. Please clear the dues of library before getting the hall ticket.
  • 38. 5. Change in Department, Status, Address etc. to be informed and the borrowers cards to be corrected. 6. Private papers and non library materials not to be left unattended on tables. 7. Please handle documents with great care as they are costly and valuable, particularly loose issues of journals. 8. On violation of library rules or misconduct of any member, the library authorities can withdraw the library facilities to him/her. General Instructions
  • 39. Please do Keep Silence. Sign the register kept at the Check Point, while entering the library. Show the documents which are being taken out of the library, to the staff at the Check Point. Contact the staff on duty/section staff for any queries. Complaint Register is maintained with the security staff for registering complaints regarding library. Keep the library premises neat and tidy. Bring loose papers only inside the library to take notes
  • 40. Please do Keep mobile phone in silent mode and avoid using inside the Library. Do not transfer Borrowers cards to others. Do not move the books/journals from its specific area to another area. Do not replace the documents. Do not sleep in the library. Do not bring files, folders, text books etc. inside the library. Please do not mutilate documents and do not bend or underline the pages while reading.
  • 44. Loss of Readers Ticket or Books For loss of Readers Ticket/Books, Report immediately to the - Librarian.
  • 45. Arrangement of the collection Books are arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme. Consult OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for Call Number of a book before going to the shelf.
