Pro鍖le I have been in healthcare greater than 21 years. I am a Certi鍖ed Coder and Certi鍖ed
Instructor with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). I began as
a pharmacy technician in 1991, I obtained my medical assisting degree in 1995 and
my coding certi鍖cations in 1998. I have worked with the revenue cycle processes,
billing and coding since 1998 and at the same time was adjunct faculty at Omaha
College of Health Careers, Alegent School of Medical Assisting and Iowa Western
Community College teaching the medical assisting programs. I started my own coding
program at Iowa Western Community College 鍖ve years prior to joining US Oncology
and was a contract instructor for Clarkson teaching E/M to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year
residents. Prior to joining US Oncology I had my own consulting business with a
focus on E/M documentation and auditing, E/M education, coding, billing and the
revenue cycle. During this same time period I was the Reimbursement Coordinator
               for Oncology Hematology West. My responsibilities included but were not limited to;
Tracking metrics (A/R, DSO, denial trends), patient assistance and drug replacement
programs. I implemented a new practice management system and was instrumental in
building a bone marrow transplant program. I joined US Oncology in Jan 2007 as an
Associate Director of Reimbursement. In this position I was responsible for tracking
metrics for DSO, A/R, denials and working with the practices in the network to
assess processes and create e鍖ciencies. In June of 2010 I joined Texas Oncology,
an a鍖liated practice for Texas Oncology as a Practice Administrator. My main
responsibility was the metrics, budget, sta鍖, and physicians at 3 locations and 2
satellite o鍖ces. I was promoted to Director of Coding and Education in Jan 2012
due to my background and the need with ICD - 10. Shortly after my promotion, I
was contracted by McKesson Specialty Health as Acting Director of Reimbursement
Support Services as the current director went on FMLA. I have initiated the coding
certi鍖cation program for the US Oncology network, created a comprehensive provider
education program, and am the project lead for ICD-10. I understand the assessment
requirements for ICD - 10 readiness and have worked with a team to create a training
program and project plan to ensure compliance.

Experience Practice Administrator June 2010 - January 2012
               Texas Oncology (Fort Worth, TX)
Increased PDP by 150 percent in 6 months, took one satellite o鍖ce to a full
day and opened another satellite o鍖ce 1/2 days. Successfully ran 3 full-time
practices and the two satellite o鍖ces with 7 physicians and 1 mid-level. Created
an anti-coagulation clinic and a genetic risk assessment clinic with the assistance
of the mid-level and physicians while reducing DSO and AR over 120. I was
also successful in recovering 1/2 million dollars of indigent drug and beginning
a program for our uninsured patients with the social workers.

Acting Director Reimbursement Support Services January 2007 - present
McKesson Specialty Health (The Woodlands, TX)
Coding Certi鍖cation program initiated with 125 students in the 鍖rst class. The
鍖rst student to take the CPC exam passed after the completion of the program.
This program utilizes the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum from the
AAPC to teach basic coding skills for ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS to the students.
In addition, anatomy and physiology and medical terminology is addressed with
a more in-depth view to prepare for the ICD-10 training.
Comprehensive provider education to enhance the understanding of the E/M
guidelines and the Medical Necessity policy with CMS. This education is provided
via webinars or on-site in a group or one-on-one setting. This education has
been requested by the physicians as we gear towards the messaging of medical
necessity and addressing the concerns and 鍖ndings of RAC audits.
ICD-10 project lead for the network of practices at McKesson Specialty Health.
This project included an assessment of IT systems, applications and vendors in
addition to business processes and sta鍖 expertise. Setting up work streams for
communication, vendor strategy, payer strategy and change management along
with the integrated project plan and business case development.
Hired new team of certi鍖ed coders and instructors with expertise in multiple
areas to assist with Ask the Expert questions, surgery, E/M, radiation, medical
oncology and hematology reviews. They assist with webinar educational presentations
                   and the coding certi鍖cation program.
Enhanced the quality of educational materials and o鍖erings to take the knowledge
in the network to another level and provide the practices with the tools they
                   need to do their job.

Associate Director Of Reimbursement January 2007 - June 2010
            US Oncology (Houston, TX)
I was responsible for the West region practices, evaluating DSO, AR over 120,
bad debt and credit balances. I worked with the practices to put in best
practice processes and provide education for billing and coding. I was also
responsible for setting up the audit processes and educating the providers. I
was the temporary Business O鍖ce Manager while they hired a director at the
Sacramento practice and successfully increased their PDP and decreased their
denials and AR. Eventually I supported the entire network with EM education
and setting up the quarterly audit processes. I completed the Green Belt
training, the Leadership series and the Change Management workshop, at the
same time I was the subject matter expert for the Leadership workshop and
presented on reimbursement and the Revenue Cycle. I put together tool kits
for research, revenue cycle, and E/M.
