With a background in projects spanning more than 40 years, Tim Lyons specialised in the delivery of large, complex, multi-disciplinary programmes for clients including Crossrail, Network Rail, ExxonMobil, Siemens and in patent development. His first career was in broadcasting, where he designed and built commercial radio station studios in Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol, also working as a presenter and programme producer. Tim now writes and presents extensively on matters relating to the human and neurological aspects of projects, including communication, ethics and coaching. He holds a Master’s degree in NLP, is an NLP Master Practitioner and International Coach. He is the Deputy Lead for APM’s People Interest Network.

- 1. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full project?
- 2. I have learnt a lot from my preliminary task about the typical layout of magazines , though research on google and Bing I was able to try and recreate the techniques and styles used in other magazines. For example the three colour system (using a maximum of three colour in your work) was on of the features I found in other magazines; I practiced this in my preliminary task using the colour scheme of the school, I again used this techniques in my music magazine.
- 3. Through studying other magazines I was able to learn techniques such as the left side third rule; I was then able to practice these techniques in my preliminary task.
- 4. While doing my preliminary task I was able to learn how different target audiences require a different set of language.
- 5. In addition I was able to explore new technology and sites in my preliminary task, such as Prezi, survey monkey, and fireworks. This gave me a greater skill set that would allow me to produce a better final project.
