Hundreds of students at South Philadelphia High School were told they were ineligible to attend prom due to excessive class cutting. The school came up with a program where students could create care packages for US troops to earn back their prom privileges. Any student who had cut more than 20 times had to submit one care package per 20 cuts. The goal was to teach the students responsibility while also supporting soldiers overseas. Many students embraced the chance to help troops in exchange for being able to go to prom.
