I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry at the Catholic University of Leuven and started my career in 1997 as a Scientist Medicinal Chemistry at the Janssen Medicinal Chemistry Department in Beerse, contributing to gastrointestinal and inflammation research programs.
After that, I moved into the position of Chemistry Team Leader HDAC Inhibition and contributed to the discovery of R306465, a novel inhibitor of class I histone deacetylases with broad-spectrum anti-tumoral activity, which progressed to Phase I clinical trials.
