Plants get their energy from sunlight through the process of photosynthesis. During photosynthesis, plants take in carbon dioxide and water, and with the help of sunlight in their chloroplasts, produce oxygen and glucose, which provides them food. This demonstrates that plants need energy and food to grow, survive and reproduce, fulfilling two key characteristics of living things.
