WORK EXPERIENCE: Petroleum Field Services - July 2014- February 2015 Environmental Scientist, Denver Colorado – Hired to assist the Vice President of Operations in rebuilding an environmental group to develop a new source of revenue and growth. Responsibilities included completing existing environmental compliance activities for oil and gas clients including groundwater quality monitoring and desktop site assessments for oil exploration clients. I was also a safety committee member and focused on helping them develop a safety culture. Primeone Realty April 2014 to Present Associate Broker, Denver Colorado - Working part time as a buyer’s and seller’s agent in the Denver area. Activities include marketing, negotiating with clients, banks and other agents to meet contractual deadlines and resolve issues with maintenance, repairs and finance to close deals. Newmont Mining Corporation - September 2008 to November 2013 June 2012 – November 2013 - Director S&ER, Greenwood Village Colorado. North and South America Environmental functional lead for Project Services. Reviewed and tracked environmental aspects of development projects in the Americas. Provided guidance to regional teams helping to lead them through a corporate capitol effectiveness process (“Stage Gate”). Activities included the identification of significant issues with the permitting strategy for a large mining project in the North American region. I provided an alternative strategy that was ultimately implemented to meet business objectives. I drafted the first corporate conflict minerals policy to minimize potential to inadvertently aid in the production and sale of products developed from exploitation of disadvantaged groups in conflict regions. I drafted new corporate waste management and waste rock/acid rock drainage policies. Assisted Treasury and Legal groups with implementation of a Conflict Minerals program, also assisted with Business Readiness reviews of late stage projects, and assisted the Solutions and Innovations Group and Project Services groups with their standards development. I also acted as a subject matter expert for due diligence investigations associated with potential takeover Targets and Acquisitions. September 2008 - June 2012 Manager Environmental Permitting/Senior Environmental Manager, Battle Mountain Nevada. Managed environmental permitting in Western Nevada until August 2009, then promoted to Sr. Environmental Manager at Phoenix Operations. Phoenix was a large open pit copper gold mine with complex mineral processing facilities. I was responsible for all aspects of environmental management at the
- 2. mine including: ISO 14001 certification and compliance, Toxic Release Inventory reporting, permitting, reclamation, groundwater monitoring, waste rock management, air quality, RCRA hazardous waste, DOT HAZMAT shipping, etc. I was also responsible for compliance and reclamation at a smaller gold producing mine, three inactive sites and a few exploration targets. I supervised a staff of eight. As an Environmental Permitting Manager, I oversaw permitting of several mining projects in Nevada that included NEPA analyses ranging from Environmental Assessments to Environmental Impact Statements. I oversaw preparation of Scopes of Work and selection of consultants for studies related to expansion activities. I worked closely with legal counsel and senior management to develop a permitting strategy that allowed development of minor expansion projects (meeting near term business objectives), while work on major expansions continued under the NEPA process to facilitate long term growth. I was instrumental in forming a cooperative relationship with BLM and the Nevada Bureau of Mining to streamline approval of baseline studies. I also conducted tours and presentations with Native American groups, state and federal regulators including EPA Region 9. Kinross Gold Corporation - January 2007 to September 2008 Environmental Manager, Kettle River Operations, Republic Washington. Responsible for environmental compliance and permitting for a new underground mine, a mill and reclamation activities at three inactive mine sites in various stages of closure. Supervised three environmental professionals and one business assistant. Completed federal, state, and local permitting activities for the Buckhorn Mine in northern Washington. Worked with upper management, legal council, regulatory agencies, and consultants to successfully defend the Buckhorn permits against appeals at the state and federal level. The appeal against the mine access road on Forest Service land was dismissed in federal court “with prejudice.” The state EIS was settled in arbitration. I also served as the company representative to the Buckhorn Community Advisory Association (BCAA). Worked with the BCAA to draft a good neighbor agreement acceptable to Kinross. Responsibilities at the active mine site included operation of an IX water treatment plant to meet stringent NPDES requirements. When compliance issues developed with the IX plant, I developed and implemented a water management strategy to keep the mine in compliance while improvements were made to the system. I Oversaw a 2 million dollar plus legal and environmental budget. Newmont Mining Corporation - July 1999 – January 2007 April 2002 to January 2007 - Manager, Environmental Permitting, Reno, Nevada Responsible for permitting activities in northern Nevada for multiple facilities including several mining operations and a coal fired power plant. Directly supervised two environmental professionals. Air quality permitting activities included obtaining new Title 5 operating permits for two mining facilities, a PSD air permit for the power plant, and modifications/renewals for several Class I and II air operating permits. Water quality/discharge related permitting activities included procurement of Water Pollution Control Permits for mines, a water treatment plant, process ponds, several dam safety permits, reclamation permits, and NPDES discharge permit renewals. Additional responsibilities included the permitting of Class III Landfills, and oversight of a Utilities Environmental Protection Act application. All permitting activities require close coordination and communication with regulatory personnel, site environmental staff, engineers, and consultants. I identified inconsistencies with the corporate business plan and permitting time-line and successfully worked with project managers and engineers to to develop alternate strategies. July 2000 to April 2002 - Sr. Environmental Coordinator, Twin Creeks Mine, Golconda, Nevada, Responsibilities in addition to those outlined below included compliance with Class I and II air quality permits, employee awareness training, and supervision of junior staff, environmental oversight of expansion projects, and minor permit modifications. Additional work included two months in Peru developing surface water management plan for a large mining operation in the Andes.

July 1999 to July 2000 - Environmental Coordinator III, Twin Creeks Mine, Golconda, Nevada Responsibilities included RCRA (LQG) hazardous waste disposal, Class III Exempt Landfill management, water pollution control permit management, storm water permit compliance, and waste rock management. Routine duties included; hazardous and regulated waste disposal, EPCRA reporting (NV Hazardous Material Storage Permit), oversight of groundwater sampling and quarterly reporting, SPCC/SWPPP inspections, waste rock management to prevent acid rock drainage and facilitate reclamation, regulatory reporting for unauthorized spills and discharges, interaction with site personnel, state, federal and local regulatory agencies to insure compliance with all applicable regulations, and drafting minor permit modifications. Cobre Mining Company - September 1995 to July 1999 Environmental Engineer, Silver City, NM, My responsibilities included management and oversight of environmental compliance related activities. Routine duties included: groundwater sampling oversight and quarterly reporting, drinking water treatment system maintenance and reporting, tailing dam monitoring and reporting, DOT HAZMAT registration training and record keeping, TSCA PCB record keeping, hazardous and regulated waste disposal, EPCRA reporting, SPCC inspections, dust control, acid rock drainage monitoring and containment, remediation and corrective action reporting for unauthorized discharges, monitor well placement and installation, interaction with state, federal and local regulatory agencies to insure compliance with all applicable regulations. Successfully permitted the first waste rock management plan approved by the New Mexico Bureau of Groundwater Pollution Prevention. Successfully brought PCB transformers in compliance with TSCA without penalty by EPA. Oversaw clean-up of an 8 million gallon tailing release. I worked to repair previously damaged regulatory relationships and successfully restored trust. Western Technologies Inc. - September 1993 to September 1995 Project Environmental Scientist, Tucson, AZ 85713, Responsibilities included: writing proposals, technical report writing, sampling, and drill definition of petroleum contaminated soil plumes, recommendation, and supervision of remedial activities, and interaction with state and local regulatory personnel to insure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
