Welcome Team Hostec,
The pages that follow are meant to act as a guide for all of us to
understand Hostec; our values, our beliefs, our goals - our world.
Today we enjoy an integral position as one of Australias most successful
and high profile hospitality service companies. A fundamental part of
our success is our constant engagement with the industries we work
in while simultaneously expanding into new industries and regions. We
look forward to continuing this growth in 2011 and beyond!
We have been in the business of professional development, education
and training for 13 years and have been able to maintain a strong market
position through our unique offerings in both our key operational areas;
Talent Solutions and Learning Solutions.
It is our passion, spirit and knowledge that has helped us grow so fast
but we believe our connectivity and relationships are what will take us
to the next level.
Our business has three levels of connecting with our customers;
Transactional, Partner, and Strategic. We often use the term joining
the dots where our long standing client base has evolved from strong
relationships formed based on the ability to deliver in any service like the
first job assignment, the way weve handled the roll-out of a traineeship
program in one hotel or simply attending one short course. The dots
continue to connect within these organizations to grow from a good
relationship to a strategic partnership.
Everyone in Hostec needs to remember that every touch point a
customer has with a Hostec team member reflects who we are as a
company. What is exciting about where we are today is the fact that
we have such a great team of people to continue to take what we do
to the next level for our clients. To be connected starts internally, our
teamwork will lead to brilliance.
We look forward to working with you this year to achieve your goals.
Our goal is to maximize our ability to be Connected.

The Story
It all started back in 1997 in a house in suburban Sydney, Ian
and Raman, both in their early twenties had been asked by the
principal of ICHM (the college they both had attended) to help find
internships in Sydney hotels for 30 students. And they did. Hostec
was born.
After that, there was no stopping them. Through their unflinching
dedication and to realise their lofty ambitions, Ian and Raman
built up a solid reputation for Hostec in the Australian hospitality
industry as a serious player in the business of recruitment. Hostec
then expanded into the hospitality education business with the
opening of the International Academy which continues to deliver
Hospitality and more recently Business courses to students from
across the world. Hostec now delivers a wide range of people
solutions to leading companies worldwide ranging from executive
recruitment through to bespoke learning solutions.
Over the years, Hostec continued to grow exponentially, moving
into offices in Sydneys infamous Kings Cross, then Clarence
Street and now the prestigious York Street right in the CBD. To
achieve our goal of being the best in our business, and to keep up
with the demand for our services in Australia and beyond, Hostec
opened offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, London and in January
this year Singapore. The company also grew from being a two
man team in 1997 to employing over 80 full time staff in 2010.
With continued growth at this rate, Hostec is well on its way to
meeting its objective of being the number one provider of education
and human resource services in Australia by 2013, all of Asia by
2015 and a global leader by 2020.

As of 2011, we as a company are moving from a transactional
mindset to the development of strategic partnerships with our
clients and stakeholders. These partnerships will allow us to
engage with our clients at various levels from frontline staff skills
training programs to leadership programs for senior management.
In the last months of 2010 and beginning 2011, we have already
signed strategic partnership deals with Toga Hospitality and the
Mantra Group; two of Australias largest hotel groups to provide
a full range of learning solutions to their employees at all levels in
the organisations.
We will also see an increase in the number of industries we operate
in; in particular we forecast a growth in the retail and entertainment
industries. A good example of this is our partnership with Village
Roadshow Theme Parks to provide a range of learning solutions.
We expect a marked increase in the range of industries and
organisations we work with.
In the first quarter of 2011 we will also be launching outcome
-based packaged courses aimed at specific audiences. These
packages have primarily been created from courses and modules
that we already run, allowing for a brand new product with minimal
financial outlay. Since the focus of these packages is in providing
skills, they may not have any formal qualification or certification
attached to them.
With a strong learning and administrative framework now in place,
a well structured team with clearly defined roles and a strong
General Manager of Learning & Development, 2011 will be a year
that will be the beginning of many strategic learning partnerships
with leading organisations in Australia and possibly the Asia-
Pacific region.
25
26
As we enter 2011, the Tourism and Travel Industry continues to
be a key driver in creating much needed employment and growth
worldwide. As a result, our Talent Solutions team has been working
round the clock (in Australia, the UK and Singapore) to meet this
demand for skilled professionals. The Talent Solutions team also
continues to grow to keep up with this surge in demand as does
our presence with the opening of offices in Melbourne, Singapore
and London.
In 2010, we saw a marked increase in business coming in through
our existing clients both in Talent Solutions and Learning Solutions.
We have also been pushing for higher margins in for both our Talent
solutions products; Executive Recruitment and Executive Search.
We have been pushing our premium solution, Executive Search
in the past year and expect to see increased search assignments
in 2011 which allow us great exposure at very senior levels in
organisations across the world and also attract higher margins for
successful placements.
In the past we have worked primarily with large hotel chains such
as Accor and Hilton, placing key executives in various positions
across Australia, Asia and the Middle-east. However, we have also
been moving into new industries and will continue to do so in 2011
and after. A good example of this would be Compass Group which
is Australias largest food service company where we have placed
numerous candidates.
With a larger Talent Solutions team now than ever before, an
expanded reach in Europe and Asia, and an increasing demand
for senior executives across the world, we expect 2011 to be our
biggest year yet!

  • 3. 3 Welcome Team Hostec, The pages that follow are meant to act as a guide for all of us to understand Hostec; our values, our beliefs, our goals - our world. Today we enjoy an integral position as one of Australias most successful and high profile hospitality service companies. A fundamental part of our success is our constant engagement with the industries we work in while simultaneously expanding into new industries and regions. We look forward to continuing this growth in 2011 and beyond! We have been in the business of professional development, education and training for 13 years and have been able to maintain a strong market position through our unique offerings in both our key operational areas; Talent Solutions and Learning Solutions. It is our passion, spirit and knowledge that has helped us grow so fast but we believe our connectivity and relationships are what will take us to the next level. Our business has three levels of connecting with our customers; Transactional, Partner, and Strategic. We often use the term joining the dots where our long standing client base has evolved from strong relationships formed based on the ability to deliver in any service like the first job assignment, the way weve handled the roll-out of a traineeship program in one hotel or simply attending one short course. The dots continue to connect within these organizations to grow from a good relationship to a strategic partnership. Everyone in Hostec needs to remember that every touch point a customer has with a Hostec team member reflects who we are as a company. What is exciting about where we are today is the fact that we have such a great team of people to continue to take what we do to the next level for our clients. To be connected starts internally, our teamwork will lead to brilliance. We look forward to working with you this year to achieve your goals. Our goal is to maximize our ability to be Connected. - Ian and Raman 2011Connected

  • 6. 6 The Story It all started back in 1997 in a house in suburban Sydney, Ian and Raman, both in their early twenties had been asked by the principal of ICHM (the college they both had attended) to help find internships in Sydney hotels for 30 students. And they did. Hostec was born. After that, there was no stopping them. Through their unflinching dedication and to realise their lofty ambitions, Ian and Raman built up a solid reputation for Hostec in the Australian hospitality industry as a serious player in the business of recruitment. Hostec then expanded into the hospitality education business with the opening of the International Academy which continues to deliver Hospitality and more recently Business courses to students from across the world. Hostec now delivers a wide range of people solutions to leading companies worldwide ranging from executive recruitment through to bespoke learning solutions. Over the years, Hostec continued to grow exponentially, moving into offices in Sydneys infamous Kings Cross, then Clarence Street and now the prestigious York Street right in the CBD. To achieve our goal of being the best in our business, and to keep up with the demand for our services in Australia and beyond, Hostec opened offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, London and in January this year Singapore. The company also grew from being a two man team in 1997 to employing over 80 full time staff in 2010. With continued growth at this rate, Hostec is well on its way to meeting its objective of being the number one provider of education and human resource services in Australia by 2013, all of Asia by 2015 and a global leader by 2020.

These partnerships will allow us to engage with our clients at various levels from frontline staff skills training programs to leadership programs for senior management. In the last months of 2010 and beginning 2011, we have already signed strategic partnership deals with Toga Hospitality and the Mantra Group; two of Australias largest hotel groups to provide a full range of learning solutions to their employees at all levels in the organisations. We will also see an increase in the number of industries we operate in; in particular we forecast a growth in the retail and entertainment industries. A good example of this is our partnership with Village Roadshow Theme Parks to provide a range of learning solutions. We expect a marked increase in the range of industries and organisations we work with. In the first quarter of 2011 we will also be launching outcome -based packaged courses aimed at specific audiences. These packages have primarily been created from courses and modules that we already run, allowing for a brand new product with minimal financial outlay. Since the focus of these packages is in providing skills, they may not have any formal qualification or certification attached to them. With a strong learning and administrative framework now in place, a well structured team with clearly defined roles and a strong General Manager of Learning & Development, 2011 will be a year that will be the beginning of many strategic learning partnerships with leading organisations in Australia and possibly the Asia- Pacific region.

  • 26. 26 As we enter 2011, the Tourism and Travel Industry continues to be a key driver in creating much needed employment and growth worldwide. As a result, our Talent Solutions team has been working round the clock (in Australia, the UK and Singapore) to meet this demand for skilled professionals. The Talent Solutions team also continues to grow to keep up with this surge in demand as does our presence with the opening of offices in Melbourne, Singapore and London. In 2010, we saw a marked increase in business coming in through our existing clients both in Talent Solutions and Learning Solutions. We have also been pushing for higher margins in for both our Talent solutions products; Executive Recruitment and Executive Search. We have been pushing our premium solution, Executive Search in the past year and expect to see increased search assignments in 2011 which allow us great exposure at very senior levels in organisations across the world and also attract higher margins for successful placements. In the past we have worked primarily with large hotel chains such as Accor and Hilton, placing key executives in various positions across Australia, Asia and the Middle-east. However, we have also been moving into new industries and will continue to do so in 2011 and after. A good example of this would be Compass Group which is Australias largest food service company where we have placed numerous candidates. With a larger Talent Solutions team now than ever before, an expanded reach in Europe and Asia, and an increasing demand for senior executives across the world, we expect 2011 to be our biggest year yet! talentSolutions
