Cost: $5,000 - $10,000
Purpose
Founded in 1977, the UTSA Alumni Association promotes and serves the University of Texas at
San Antonio and its 108,000 alumni through various events, mixers, and other opportunities for
Roadrunners to connect with their alma mater. Membership in the UTSA Alumni Association is
based on three models: free, annual, and life members.
In order to explain membership benefits and payment plans, we have always utilized a simple
trifold brochure printed on glossy paper. However, we released our latest brochure more than
two years ago, and it contained outdated information. The brochure was in sore need for an
update. Looking to spark a major change, we decided to redesign the entire concept of our
brochure, seeking a high-quality, graphically appealing item that fully encompassed what it
really meant to be part of our vibrant alumni base.
We set out to reshape our brochure to truly reflect UTSAs thriving alumni community and how
the Association supports former Roadrunners. We wanted to inspire alumni not only to join the
Association, but to also give back to their alma mater in different ways, whether that be by
starting or joining a chapter in their own cities, purchasing a UTSA Ring, or volunteering with
their fellow Roadrunners in service projects the possibilities are endless!
Audience
Our initial audience was UTSA alumni, with the purpose of turning them into Association
members. However, with the final product, we use our brochure for many different purposes.
Our events team uses it as a tool to obtain sponsorships, while our outreach team shares the
brochure with alumni from out-of-town to show them that, while they are not local, they can still
be involved with UTSA.
Our audience has expanded with a recent addition the brochure is now accessible online. We
loaded the brochure into issuu, a digital publishing platform, and placed it on the home page of
our website, as well as on social media outlets. View the online brochure here:

After a year of collaboration with Morehead Dotts Rybak (MDR), an outside advertising agency,
we are absolutely thrilled with our sleek, redesigned brochure that gives a more comprehensive
look at the Association and the alumni community at UTSA.
This revamped brochure is printed on heavy matte cardstock with a consistent, eye-catching
design throughout all 16 pages. Informative and all-encompassing, the brochure also packs a
graphic punch. To avoid changing and reprinting the brochure because of outdated information,
we direct readers to our website for the latest information on membership benefits, pricing, etc.
The front of the brochure reads one of our university mottos: Now and forever, I am a
Roadrunner. This saying fosters a sense of community before the alumnus even opens the
brochure. Then, the reader goes on a journey to learn about the Association, alumni
demographics, Association events, and ways they can become involved with either their time or
money. The brochure is sprinkled with quotes from chapter leaders, successful alumni, and
current students. Reaching the end, the final page is a collage of photos dating back to the 1970s,
reminding readers yet again about the community and nostalgia associated with UTSA.
No alumni experience at UTSA is the same, and their ways of giving back should be different,
too. Our brochure presents a variety of options for alumni involvement. The new brochure is a
more impactful way of motivating alumni to feel a sense of pride in their alma mater and
inspiring them to become an active part of our alumni community.
To keep up with an increasingly technological
world, our new brochure can be accessed online.
