The document describes the implementation of a new self-directed clinic orientation process at Eisenhower Medical Center. The previous orientation process was ineffective and fragmented, without standardized training for preceptors. The new process develops standardized orientation materials, defines the preceptor role, provides preceptor training, considers individual learning styles, and includes regular competency assessments. It was piloted successfully in one clinic, receiving positive feedback from new hires and preceptors. Based on the results, additional clinics will adopt the physician preference cards and orientation plan adjustments will be made.
