Transition towards results (1) During June-December GIZ MLPS project made progresses in the pilot project implementation: The project started working and advanced in the procurement and contracting procedures for the investments financed from additional funds provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ); The project managed to contract and to and mobilize the Consulting Consortium with the aim to implement the regional planning and programming pilot project; GIZ Moldova 17.12.12 17.12.2012 Seite 2 2

Transition towards results(2) During the reported period GIZ MLPS project started working on adjusting the M&E system and gender policy within project extended mandate; The project met the requirements of assistance in updating the National Regional Development Strategy and in assessing projects for Regional Operational Plans; The project mobilized experts to analyse possible project pipelines with the aim to attract additional German funds for regional development in the Republic of Moldova. Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova The project proposal is based on the results of bilateral negotiations between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and that of Germany held in November 2009; The project is planned for 7 years and is divided in 2 phases: January 2010 – December 2014 and January 2015 - December 2016. The institutional partner is the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of the Republic of Moldova Intervention area 1: Local public services; Intervention area 2: Regional planning and programming and Capacity Development for Regional Development and Cross Border Cooperation in Moldova. The BMZ contribution constitutes 3 million euro; Additional funds from BMZ: 3.6 million euro (complementary investments for pilot projects and supporting the partners) and 5.3 million euro (investments in the regional development); Co-funding from the Romanian Government constitutes 0.7 million euro; Co-funding from the Swedish Government constitutes 3.3 million euro. 17.12.12 Seite 4 4
