1) The document describes a case study of a child diagnosed with autism and the various treatment modalities used.

This document discusses how gut microbiota can be an etiological factor in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It describes how early colonization and homeostasis of gut microbiota is important for health. Dysbiosis or imbalance of gut microbiota has been associated with ASD and various dietary and environmental factors can influence the development and composition of gut microbiota in infants and children. The document examines how factors like maternal stress, breastfeeding, diet, and use of probiotics/prebiotics can help manipulate imbalanced gut microbiota and potentially help with symptoms of ASD.
This document provides an overview of glaucoma, including what it is, how it damages the optic nerve, risk factors, symptoms, detection methods, treatment options, and current research. Glaucoma is a group of diseases that can lead to damage of the optic nerve and vision loss. It occurs when fluid pressure inside the eye increases and damages the optic nerve over time. While symptoms may not appear initially, untreated glaucoma can result in tunnel vision and complete vision loss. Detection involves eye exams and tests of visual acuity, fields, pressure levels, and nerve examination. Treatment aims to control pressure and prevent further damage through eye drop medications, laser surgery, or conventional surgery. Research continues to study causes, early detection methods
An inherited enzyme deficiency leading to the disruption of normal bodily metabolism.
Accumulation of a toxic substrate.
Impaired formation of a product normally produced by the deficient enzyme.
Glaucoma is a serious condition that involves increased pressure inside the eye and can lead to permanent blindness if left untreated. It is more common in African Americans and tends to run in families. While it causes no symptoms initially, over time it can destroy peripheral vision and eventually central vision without treatment through eyedrops, pills, laser therapy or surgery. Regular comprehensive eye exams are important for early detection and treatment to prevent vision loss from glaucoma.
General pathology lecture 3 cell death or necrosisZa Flores
油
Necrosis refers to cell death in living tissue. Dead cells show changes in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, such as increased eosinophilia and swollen mitochondria. There are several types of necrosis including coagulation, liquefactive, fatty, caseous, and gangrenous necrosis. Coagulation necrosis results in hardened cells while liquefactive necrosis involves enzymatic breakdown. Caseous necrosis is characterized by soft, cheesy debris. Apoptosis is a normal and regulated form of cell death, while postmortem changes that occur after death include algor mortis, rigor mortis, livor mortis, autolysis, and putrefaction.
Thyroid eye disease (TED), also known as Graves' ophthalmopathy, is an autoimmune disorder affecting the eyes that is commonly associated with Graves' disease and hyperthyroidism. It causes inflammation and swelling of the muscles and fatty tissues behind the eyes. The document discusses the epidemiology, risk factors, pathogenesis, clinical features including proptosis, lid retraction, optic neuropathy, and restrictive myopathy, as well as treatments such as steroids, radiation, orbital decompression surgery, and eyelid surgery. Management involves treatment of both the eye symptoms and any underlying thyroid abnormalities.

Many UAE residents are still clueless about
autism
This comes in face of the recent statistic that indicates a
child
is diagnosed with autism every 20 minutes in the UAE

The blank stares that reflected in the eyes of many UAE residents
when quizzed over their knowledge of autism backed the claim
that more needs to be done in raising awareness for this medical
condition in the country.
The recently concluded World Autism Day on April 2, which was
also marked in Dubai, saw awareness for this developmental
condition still at its grassroots level with several members of the
public; this was supported further via the results of a spot poll A child undergoes therapy at the Dubai Autism Centre.
conducted by Emirates 24|7 that indicated only six per cent of the
123 people questioned were aware of autism.
According to local experts, a child is diagnosed with autism every
20 minutes in the UAE and one out of every 110 children is autistic.
