When the pottery has dried and is ready for painting the Japanese would pour the paint on the ceramic and then let the paint drip in to a plate, leaving the impression of the paint dripping into the container. Mary likes the rough natural abstract of the paint. Mrs, Heilmann gets her inspiration also from cartoons like the Simpsons she admires the bright colors of the cartoon, so in her painting she prefers to use bright colors. Her paints are single frame although they give the appearance of being two and three dimensions.
