Magnidus, in partnership with Baruah Developers and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (BDIPL), organised a day-long public workshop in Jorhat on the 25th of January, 2014. It was conducted with the intention of spreading general technical awareness about building construction and related subjects. The workshop was attended by several conscious citizens of Jorhat, including senior engineers, officials of the Jorhat Municipal Corporation, students and general public. The focus of the workshop was in throwing some light on the importance of following building byelaws, hiring the right consultants, using good quality materials etc. The significance of designing climate responsive buildings was stressed upon. The concept of Green Buildings was also introduced briefly. This presentation was a part of the workshop.

Importance of Structural Engineer Structural engineers design structures to withstand stresses and pressures, such as weather and human use. They ensure buildings and other structures do not bend, twist, collapse or vibrate and remain strong and secure throughout their use. Structural engineers help to design most structures including houses, theatres, sports venues, hospitals, office blocks, bridges, oil rigs, space satellites, ships and aircraft.
