This document discusses the challenges faced by young single mothers. It notes that being a teenage single mother is extremely difficult, as they have to deal with societal stigma and lack of support. Unwed mothers are often branded as "whores" by society and forced to leave school. In many African countries, the girl child is solely blamed and faces being shunned or forced into unwanted marriages. The document shares the author's own experience of becoming unexpectedly pregnant as a university student and pastor's daughter, and having to make the difficult choice to keep the baby despite social shame. It concludes by praising young single mothers for their strength and dignity in raising children alone, often without judgmental men's support.
