The SWWE Regional Network were very pleased to welcome Aalok Sonawala, Head of PMO, National Programmes, Rider Levett Bucknall on 26 February, to BAWA for our first face to face event of 2025. Aalok is a member of APM¡¯s Thames Valley Regional Network and also speaks to members of APM¡¯s PMO Interest Network, which aims to facilitate collaboration and learning, offer unbiased advice and guidance.
Tonight, Aalok planned to discuss the importance of a PMO within project-based organisations, the different types of PMO and their key elements, PMO governance and centres of excellence.
PMO¡¯s within an organisation can be centralised, hub and spoke with a central PMO with satellite PMOs globally, or embedded within projects. The appropriate structure will be determined by the specific business needs of the organisation. The PMO sits above PM delivery and the supply chain delivery teams.

- 2. Greece is a very beautiful county. Every corner in Greece is a piece of art. Thermopylae, Olympia, the Acropolis and the island of Corfu are some places in Greece that you should totally visit.
- 3. Thermopylae ? Thermopylae is a location in Greece where a narrow coastal passage existed in antiquity. It derives its name from its hot springs. Thermopylae is primarily known for the battle that took place there between the Greek forces including the 300 Spartans and the Persian forces.
- 4. The Acropolis ? The Acropolis of Athens is the best known acropolis in the world. It is a flat- topped rock that rises 150 m above sea level in the city of Athens, with a surface area of about 3 hectares. It was also known as Cecropia, after the legendary serpent- man, Cecrops, the first Athenian king.
- 5. Olympia ? Olympia , a sanctuary of ancient Greece in Elis, is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times, comparable in importance to the Pythian Games held in Delphi. Both games were held every Olympiad , the Olympic Games dating back possibly further than 776 BC. In 394 AD, (after exactly 1169 years) emperor Theodosius I abolished them as they were then considered reminiscent of paganism. The first Olympic Games were in Olympia in honor of Zeus.
- 6. Corfu ? Corfu is a Greek island in the Ionian sea. Corfu enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate along with excellent beaches making it a popular destination for holiday makers. Corfu is very green compared to other Greek islands: hot and dry summers along with winter rain creates lush vegetation which is dominated by over 2 million olive trees.
