Feasibility: National No-Fly Zones Although operators of drones weighing 7 kg or less are not required to have the permission of ATC, the Air Navigation Order requires that any person in charge of a small drone: may only fly the aircraft if reasonably satisfied that the flight can safely be made and; that they must maintain direct, unaided visual contact with the aircraft for the purpose of avoiding collisions.

- 12. Training 1: regulations Avoid national no-fly zones. Fly below 125m in height. Fly at least 150m away from congested areas. Fly at least 50m away from roads, building and people. Fly within line-of-sight (<500 m)

- 14. Training 3: pre-flight preparations If possible, let land-owners know that youll be flying a missions. Charge everything: batteries; controller; tablet. Load base-maps and waypoints in tablet (some app require you to be online!). Make sure that survey area does not exceed battery charge. Make sure microSD card has plenty of free memory. 6 eyes are better than two!!!
- 15. Flight practicalities Cant fly in the rain! >20 mile/hour winds makes flying difficult and potentially dangerous. Scattered clouds/long shadows can make the quality of imagery poor. Cold days can significantly reduce flight time (<50%). Clear home point (no obstructions such as trees) at least 30 m radius needed.
