Benginning Calculus Lecture notes 12 - anti derivatives indefinite and defini...basyirstar
?
This document provides an overview of beginning calculus concepts related to antiderivatives, definite integrals, and computing areas under curves. It discusses evaluating antiderivatives using substitution and guessing methods. It also explains how to compute definite integrals using Riemann sums and taking the limit of partition widths approaching zero. Examples are provided to illustrate computing areas under curves for basic functions like polynomials and finding net areas when functions are sometimes positive and sometimes negative.
Benginning Calculus Lecture notes 14 - areas & volumesbasyirstar
?
This document discusses using definite integrals to calculate areas and volumes. It introduces two methods for finding volumes: the disk method, which slices a solid into thin disks, and the shell method, which slices into thin cylindrical shells. Examples are provided for finding the volume of a sphere using both methods and calculating the area between two curves.
Benginning Calculus Lecture notes 11 - related ratesbasyirstar
?
This document contains lecture slides on related rates from the Department of Mathematics at FSMT - UPSI. It begins with the learning outcome of solving problems in related rates. Then, it provides two examples - one involving a police radar gun calculating a driver's speed, and another involving calculating the rate of rise of water in a conical tank being filled. Both examples demonstrate setting up and solving related rates problems using differentiation.
Benginning Calculus Lecture notes 15 - techniques of integrationbasyirstar
?
This document is a lecture on integration techniques including integration by parts and partial fractions. It introduces the formula for integration by parts and provides examples of applying the technique. It also explains the method of partial fractions for rewriting rational functions as a sum of simpler fractions and includes examples of using partial fractions. The goal is for students to learn how to apply techniques of integration like algebraic procedures, integration by parts, and partial fractions.
This document discusses the rules of differentiation, including the constant rule, power rule, constant multiple rule, sum and difference rules, product rule, and quotient rule. It then covers the derivatives of trigonometric functions such as sin(x), cos(x), and tan(x), providing the formulas and examples of applying the rules. The learning outcomes are to state and apply the rules of differentiation to evaluate derivatives, and to state and apply the derivatives of trigonometric functions.
This document discusses the derivatives of exponential and logarithmic functions. It provides formulas for computing the derivatives of exponential functions like y = ax and natural exponential functions. It also gives formulas for computing the derivatives of logarithmic functions like y = loga(x) and natural logarithmic functions. Examples are worked through demonstrating how to apply these formulas to find the derivatives of various exponential and logarithmic expressions. The key formulas presented are the derivatives of ax, ln(x), and loga(x).
This document discusses the first and second derivative functions. It explains that the first derivative indicates whether a function is increasing or decreasing, and the second derivative indicates whether the graph of the function is concave up or down. Several examples are provided of functions and their first and second derivatives, along with graphs of the functions and their derivatives. The learning objectives are to interpret and sketch graphs of first and second derivative functions.

This set of powerpoint slides summarizes our pilot study examining two altmetric gathering products PlumX (Plum Analytics) with additional information on Altmetric.com (MacMillan). We had Plum Analytics create profiles for several University of Colorado faculty. The faculty provided us with feedback on their social media visibility, or lack of it. The original English presentation is translated into three languages: Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
