The music video for Katy Perry's "Part of Me" depicts her reaction to discovering her boyfriend's infidelity. It begins with Katy looking emotional while holding a locket with their picture. She storms into his workplace and sees him cheating. This prompts Katy to cut her hair short and join the army, representing her transformation into a stronger, more independent woman. Through contrasts in costumes, camera angles, and flashbacks, the video uses Katy's journey as a metaphor for moving on from heartbreak and traditional gender roles to empowerment.
The document provides feedback on a music video. Key points:
- What went well includes the performer's confidence, bright clothing fitting the genre, good lip syncing, and lighting being used thoughtfully.
- Suggestions for improvement include adding more shot variety like close-ups and long shots, finishing editing the full video, and ensuring the transitions fit the genre.
- The overall evaluation is a high level two out of three.
The document outlines costume plans for a music video reflecting pop and rock conventions. It discusses choosing subtle makeup inspired by artists like Pink and Jessie J. Outfits will be fashionable but not revealing, incorporating both dark colors per rock styles seen in Avril Lavigne and bright colors from pop conventions. Hair will be straight but messy, reflecting styles seen in both genres. The plans aim to blend rock and pop elements through clothing, makeup, and hairstyling choices for the performer.
The document discusses the codes and conventions used in different genres of music videos. It provides information on technical elements like editing, camerawork, and sound design. It also discusses symbolic techniques and reasons for using codes and conventions. Specific conventions for pop, rock, and narrative/performance-based music videos are outlined. These include common editing styles, camera shots, settings, lighting, costumes, and more. In the conclusion, the author notes they have learned about how image and personality influence music video conventions and will apply this knowledge to improving their own music video projects.
The survey results showed that more female students aged 16-18 with part-time jobs watch music videos than males. Pink and Bruno Mars were favorite pop artists. Narrative music videos featuring stories were preferred. Most audience members use YouTube converters to purchase music, though some prefer iTunes for quality. Social media does not generally influence music tastes, but can help discover independent artists. The task helped establish the target audience which will inform creating a Voki and rate card, and later evaluating the music video's audience.
Conventions of a psychological thrillerKatieDring123
Ìý
Psychological thrillers commonly use certain conventions in their mise-en-scene, sound, and camera work/editing to build tension and suspense. Settings are often in cities or confined indoor spaces like houses or offices to limit characters. Costuming typically features the antagonist in dark, smart clothes while the protagonist wears brighter colors. Low lighting, mirrors as props, and non-diegetic high tension music or silence are employed. Quick editing, mid shots and close ups are used to show characters' emotions and relate tension. Flashbacks provide backstory while fast pacing keeps audiences on edge.
Shannon O'Conner, a 17-year-old student who enjoys psychological thriller films, was shown the opening clip for a new film. She said that she enjoyed the clip and thought it effectively built suspense through tense music. While initially confused by the storyline, she felt it fit the psychological thriller genre once a nightmare scene introduced a character struggling with a mental problem. Shannon praised the actor's performance, and said she wants to see the rest of the film and would watch it in theaters.
The group researched psychological thriller films and found that Warner Brothers was a common major distributor. Warner Brothers had distributed successful psychological thrillers like The Orphan and Copycat. The group decided Warner Brothers would be the best choice to distribute their film because films they distributed had large budgets and earned close to double their budgets. A large budget would allow for better production quality and marketing. Warner Brothers' experience distributing similar films would also help the group make a memorable and effective film. Choosing a major well-known distributor like Warner Brothers would help publicize and promote the film, increasing the chances of success and profit.

Warner Brothers would be the best distributor for the film because they have successfully distributed many psychological thriller films in the past with large budgets. Their experience distributing films in this genre would help the film succeed and they have the resources to promote the film widely in theaters. Choosing a major distributor like Warner Brothers over a small independent one would give the film a better chance of being shown in cinemas rather than just released online or straight to DVD.
The document provides screenshots and analysis of shots from a student film opening for a psychological thriller. It summarizes that dark lighting is used throughout to create tension. Quick cuts were used at the beginning to build suspense. Close ups and mid shots of the main character were included to help audiences relate to her vulnerable state in a nightmare scene. Similar shots from the psychological thriller film "Insomnia" are shown for comparison.
The document provides costume plans for the protagonist and antagonist characters as well as a nighttime/bedroom scene. It outlines different costume options to distinguish the main characters and convey their roles to viewers through their appearance for a key scene taking place at night in a bedroom.
The document provides costume plans for 3 elements: the protagonist, antagonist, and a night-time/bedroom scene. It breaks down costume ideas into categories to develop characters and set the tone for a pivotal scene.
The document discusses the genre of thriller films and the group's choice to create a thriller film opening. It mentions that while they selected the thriller genre, they still needed to decide on a specific sub-genre. It also states that they will first research two basic conventions found in all thriller films.
The group chose to do a thriller film and decided to research the basic conventions of the thriller genre. They specifically looked at the film Black Swan to analyze its opening scene. The analysis describes the opening scene which starts with credits over a black background with ominous music. It then shows a ballerina dancing on a lit stage with contrasting dark background. The scene cuts between shots of her feet and body as she dances to the music. A male dancer then joins and seems to stalk her as the music becomes more tense. They engage in a dramatic dance before he leaves her alone on the stage.

Blind spots in AI and Formulation Science, IFPAC 2025.pdfAjaz Hussain
Ìý
The intersection of AI and pharmaceutical formulation science highlights significant blind spots—systemic gaps in pharmaceutical development, regulatory oversight, quality assurance, and the ethical use of AI—that could jeopardize patient safety and undermine public trust. To move forward effectively, we must address these normalized blind spots, which may arise from outdated assumptions, errors, gaps in previous knowledge, and biases in language or regulatory inertia. This is essential to ensure that AI and formulation science are developed as tools for patient-centered and ethical healthcare.
