- 17. If you were asked about the general statement of a paragraph or text, it means you need to find the main idea of the reading material.
- 18. Main Idea is the most important part of the paragraph because it is the central point of discussion it also refers to the general statement of the reading text.
- 19. General Statement tells what the entire passage is all about (Balmaceda et al. 2000)
- 20. Topic is the subject of the reading material that is being described or developed in the entire text.
- 21. Topic The topic of the whole text can be found in the main idea.
- 22. Check the paragraph below and let us find the topic and the general statement or what we also called as main idea.
- 23. The earths moon can change its color to bloody red. According to Howell (2019), the usual whitish moon may turn to red or ruddy- brown color when the moon is in a total lunar eclipse. This phenomenon is called blood moon.
