Selective alpha agonists can be classified into first-generation, second-generation, and third-generation based on their pharmacological properties, receptor specificity, and clinical applications.
1. First-Generation Selective Alpha Agonists

Methoxamine Used to treat hypotension.

Selective 硫-adrenergic agonists can be classified into three generations based on their receptor selectivity, duration of action, and therapeutic advancements.
1. First-Generation Selective Beta Agonists

Early 硫-agonists with partial selectivity, often affecting both 硫1 and 硫2 receptors.
Shorter duration of action, leading to frequent dosing requirements.
Key Drugs:
Isoproterenol A non-selective 硫1 and 硫2 agonist, used for bradycardia and heart block.
Dobutamine A selective 硫1 agonist, used in acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock.
