This document discusses how to progress innovation in healthcare. It advocates changing incremental innovations to more radical innovations through co-created products, services, and environments involving designers, patients, medical teams, and other stakeholders. A human-centered approach is recommended where the user is at the center of the innovation process. Inclusive design processes and creative design tools can help integrate disciplines and stakeholders to generate new ideas. Case studies on innovations for dementia patients and diabetes care that involved co-design are presented. The document concludes that true value comes from shifting perspectives on problems.
