THE ASHOK LEYLAND SCHOOL DESIGN FOR CHANGE 1.FEEL The PROBLEM we feel is that Most of the Public are not following safety & precautionary measures on Road and hence their awareness towards road safety must be improved We felt that by controlling fuel emission & following good practices on road & by way of adopting precautionary measures, people travelling by road would be on the Green zone & environment will be green & pollution free & reduce global warming As a measure to march towards road safety, We observed the traffic for 1 hour in a busy area called ASTC HUDCO, HOSUR The above statistics motivated us to campaign for road safety
- 3. 1.FEEL THE ACCIDENT RATE :Statistics show that 89 road accidents took place in the month of august in Tamil Nadu which is of concern. THIS MOTIVATED US TO CONDUCT AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN THE BUSY AREA CALLED ASTC HUDCO,HOSUR. Accident

We BRAINSTORMED AMONG ourselves to decide the where & When part SELECTION OF PLACE(FOR CAMPAIGN) OLD ASTC HUDCO STOPPING, HOSUR TIME.- 8.30 AM TILL 12.30 PM DUTIES FOR EACH OF THE TEAM MEMBER DURING THE IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD. EVERY HALF AN HOUR THE DUTY 1.HOLDING BANNER, DISTRIBUTING CHECKLISTS, DOS AND DONTS CHANGES. IDEAS GENERATED SUGGESTION S FROM MENTOR TEACHER & TEAM AS FOLLOWS PLANNED TO TAKE PERMISSION FROM THE TRAFFIC WING FOR WHICH WE DECIDED TO SPEAK TO PRINCIPAL AND TAKE THE PERMISSION FOR THE SAME. PLANNED FOR ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CHECKLIST PLANNED FOR BANNERS VISUALLY REPRESENTING THE MOTTO OF OUR PROJECT GO SAFE GO GREEN PLANNED TO DRAW DOS AND DONTS ---VISUALLY PLANNED TO STICK BULLS EYE ON THE HEADLIGHTS OF HEAVY DUTY AND LIGHT DUTY MOTOR VEHICLES. 2.IMAGINATION

- 8. 3.DO ( CONDUCTING THE ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ) We requested the vehicles passing by to stop and distributed the dos and donts prepared to attract visually. Dos and Donts on Road while driving were given to all the people who came on light and heavy vehicles We pasted the bulls eye to all the vehicles which were not having . We distributed the awareness checklist along with suggestions to improve the same.

- 10. 3.DO WE SUBMITTED A WRITTEN REQUEST TO THE TRAFFIC POLICE AND INFORMED ABOUT OUR CAMPAGN . HENCE WE RECEIVED TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM TRAFFIC POLICE. VOLUNTEERS ALSO JOINED TO STICK BULLS EYES & HELPED US TO ISSUE THE AWARENESS CHECKLISTS DURING OUR CAMPAIGN.
- 11. 4. Share We received tremendous support & Co-operation from public & from the Traffic Wing , Hosur. Volunteers supported the process of sticking bulls eye. The local Television channel , Hosur (Citi Channel) telecasted it on 14 th sep 2010 and supported the campaign.. We are happy that the awareness campaign reached the entire city Apart from the campaign conducted on road, we visited SVG EXPORTS (An international Granite company) and insisted the safety measures The motive behind is to concentrate on the GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WORKING IN organisations. We would continuously strive to improve the road safety We would continue this process and would always strive our city to be an accident less city by further spreading our awareness campaign
