The document discusses three key learning theories that Think Education uses to build its teaching: constructivism, connectivism, and cognitive behaviorism. Constructivism involves learning with a facilitator through communication and directional content. Connectivism involves learning with peers and a facilitator through problem-solving and social networks while creating original content. Cognitive behaviorism is an individual learning process using guided content. The document emphasizes that Think Education builds its teaching around applying these three learning theories at different degrees and stages of each course.
Inquiry-Based Learning Opportunities for Secondary Teachers and StudentsMatthew Leingang
Ìý
The Harvard ALM in Mathematics for Teaching in Extension degree is described, along with two inquiry-based learning courses taught in that program. Also covered is the Harvard Secondary School Program and an IBL course taught in it.
This was presented at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Sotland, on 29th November 2007. The main focus is Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) but at the end I introduce Second Life and talk about my work with students in SL. Firstly I talked about what IBL is and then moved on to describe the work of the Centre for Inquiry Based Learning in the Arts and Social Sciences (CILASS) which is based at Sheffield University. I mentioned the level 1 module "Inquiry in Infrmation Management" (new last year), where I am part of the teaching team, and in particular I talked about the activity in Second Life with my first year "Information Literacy" class.
Inquiry based instruction is a teaching method that allows students to connect new concepts to existing knowledge through active engagement and meaningful questions. It involves identifying learning goals, assessing prior knowledge, planning guiding questions, summarizing lessons, and applying knowledge through assessment and homework. Teachers establish discussion guidelines, engage students with initial questions, apply student ideas, and have students practice applying new rules or concepts.
The document discusses inquiry-based learning, which is a constructivist approach where students explore topics through asking questions and investigating answers. It involves gathering information, analyzing data, generating solutions, and justifying conclusions. The teacher acts as a guide, gradually removing scaffolding as students develop skills. Inquiry learning helps develop skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning. It can be applied to all disciplines by using specific methods to ensure integrity across topics. The key components of inquiry include activating prior knowledge, providing background information, defining learning outcomes, modeling project formats, and establishing topics for student research.

Inspired by the song; We are the World, by the pop stars of the 80s in the wake of famine in Ethiopia, I have molded the song to match the needs of our time.
Inspired by the song "Silence Must be Heard" by Enigma, I have tried to reflect child labour and domestic violence in the song. Dedicated to the Silent Majority.
Please do comment to make it more effective.
Inspired by the song Eagle by ABBA, I have tried to motivate youth by making use of the song for instigating an urge in youth to rise above as SKY IS THE LIMIT.
Inspired by the song Yesterday by Foreigner, I have changed the concept of songs for a better cause. I would appreciate your comments, positive or otherwise. Plz do suggest for improvement in my work.
