Edouard Manet and Claude Monet were both influential French impressionist painters born in Paris in the 19th century. They often painted scenes of everyday life in Paris and had their work initially rejected from the Salon jury. Though their styles differed where Manet's works were more romantic and focused on composition, and Monet specialized in painting light and water, they remained close friends who painted each other and took part in each other's funerals.
