This document outlines the sections and items for a grade 5 numeracy assessment. It includes sections on oral counting with 5 items testing counting numbers up to 20 and skip counting multiples of 2, 5, and 3. It also includes a section on rational counting with 5 items testing counting squares, numbers in a string, triangles in an image, and circles. Finally, it has a section on number identification with 5 items requiring the student to read numbers aloud.
This document provides an overview of real numbers. It discusses that real numbers include all numbers that can be found on the number line, including rational and irrational numbers. Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as fractions, with decimal forms that either terminate or repeat. Irrational numbers cannot be written as fractions, and their decimal forms do not terminate or repeat, with examples including pi. The document also discusses subsets of rational numbers, including integers, natural numbers, and whole numbers.
This document provides an overview of different number systems:
1) It begins with an explanation of natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, and irrational numbers.
2) Rational numbers are defined as numbers that can be represented as fractions, while irrational numbers are non-repeating and non-terminating decimals.
3) The real number system is then introduced as the collection of all rational and irrational numbers.
The document discusses types of numbers and provides examples to illustrate key concepts in number theory. It begins by explaining the hierarchy of numbers, including natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, and real numbers. It then provides 8 solved problems involving concepts like odd/even numbers, digit counting, and arithmetic operations. The document aims to help readers develop competence in number theory through lucid explanations and examples.
This document provides a lesson on adding and subtracting multiples of 10 to 2-digit numbers. Students practice problems like 10 + 30, 40 - 20, and 60 + 40. They recognize patterns, like 1 ten plus 3 tens equals 4 tens. Students explain that they can use number bonds to help add and subtract tens, like 4 tens subtract 2 tens equals 2 tens. They count in 10s and 20s from different starting points, noticing that the ones place changes while the tens place stays the same. The goal is for students to be able to add or subtract multiples of 10 to any number.
The document contains questions related to various topics in mathematics including prime numbers, operations, geometry, fractions, decimals, percentages, factors, and more. It asks about finding the next prime number after 11, the product of 60 times 8, the year 1982 in Roman numerals, the formula for the area of a triangle, simplifying expressions, and properties of shapes like triangles, circles, rhombus, pentagons, and trapezoids.
This document discusses different types of numbers and arithmetic concepts. It covers:
- Types of numbers including natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, and real numbers.
- Properties of even and odd numbers as well as positives and negatives under addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
- Divisibility rules for numbers being divisible by 1 through 10 as well as squares.
- Strategies for solving word problems involving remainders, including picking numbers, back-solving, and elimination.
This document provides an overview of the chapter 1 of the Class VI Mathematics textbook - Knowing Our Numbers. It discusses topics like natural numbers, whole numbers, Indian and international numeral systems, place value, arranging numbers in ascending and descending order, and examples involving these concepts. Students are assigned problems involving writing place values, inserting commas, expanding numbers, and finding greatest and smallest 4-digit numbers using given digits.
This document defines integers and discusses their properties and real-world applications. It begins by defining integers as whole numbers and their opposites, such as 6 and -6. It then discusses how integers are used to represent temperatures below zero, locations below sea level, and debt. The document explains how to add and subtract integers by finding opposites and absolute value. It provides examples of using integers to measure distance on a number line.
This document defines integers and discusses their properties and real-world applications. Integers include whole numbers and their opposites, such as 6 and -6. Negative numbers are used to represent temperatures below zero, locations below sea level, and amounts of debt. The absolute value of a number represents its distance from zero on the number line. Opposite numbers are integers that are the same distance from zero but in opposite directions. Distance between integers can be found by subtracting their absolute values if they are on the same side of zero, and adding if they are on opposite sides.

This document defines integers and discusses their properties and real-world applications. It begins by defining integers as whole numbers and their opposites, such as 6 and -6. Negative numbers are then introduced as numbers less than zero, and examples are given of how they are used to represent temperatures below zero, locations below sea level, and debt. The key concepts of opposites, absolute value, and comparing integers are explained. Real-world examples of distance are provided to introduce the concept of finding the distance between integers on a number line.

APM event hosted by the South Wales and West of England Network (SWWE Network)
Speaker: Aalok Sonawala
The SWWE Regional Network were very pleased to welcome Aalok Sonawala, Head of PMO, National Programmes, Rider Levett Bucknall on 26 February, to BAWA for our first face to face event of 2025. Aalok is a member of APMs Thames Valley Regional Network and also speaks to members of APMs PMO Interest Network, which aims to facilitate collaboration and learning, offer unbiased advice and guidance.
Tonight, Aalok planned to discuss the importance of a PMO within project-based organisations, the different types of PMO and their key elements, PMO governance and centres of excellence.
PMOs within an organisation can be centralised, hub and spoke with a central PMO with satellite PMOs globally, or embedded within projects. The appropriate structure will be determined by the specific business needs of the organisation. The PMO sits above PM delivery and the supply chain delivery teams.
