Graduation is such a rewarding feeling, and on June 11, 2011, I walked the stage with Argosy University Dallas Campus. Never would I have thought that this day would have came after five long years of thinking that I would never really see it.

Personal Statement Growing up in two different cultures has its perks as well as its disadvantages. I grew up in The Commonwealth of Dominica, which is an island in the West Indies, the Caribbean. I lived there for thirteen years until my grandmother passed away and had no choice but to migrate to the United States to live with my mother who was pursuing her Bachelors in Nursing. At an early age I saw how hard my mother had to work in order to provide for herself and I. Had it not been for my grandmother being around to take care of me for the years that she was able too, my mother would have had a much harder time in completing her dreams. It was at that point that I knew to myself I never wanted to struggle, but instead I wanted to do whatever it took (legally) to be successful. My motto in life has always been that I will overcome all obstacles to get to success. I was encouraged to get a job and save money so that I could accomplish my goal of attending college. And so my job hunt began, and I was hired at McDonalds the same day that I turned in my application. .

Personal Statement This is where I started to develop the most as an individual and also as a business woman. Although my job mostly consisted of making hamburgers and ensuring that the timers on the food were always up to date, I did my job with pride and much detail. In just a short three months, I became a new hire trainer, and six months later, a shift manager. My ability to pay attention to detail and also to take responsibility for my actions assured my job for the next two years. In the summer of 2006, I graduated Newtown High School in Queens New York with honors all while working almost full time, staying dedicated to the school’s basketball and track teams, and being involved in student council. College was bright in my future, with offers from many of the community colleges in New York as well as offers from four year colleges. .

Personal Statement August 2006 marked my entry into Barry University in Miami Shores Florida where the best years of m life began. Barry University allowed me to grow as an individual and realize my full potential by constantly challenging me intellectually and emotionally. Now, here I am, twenty three years of age, Personal Banker at Bank of America, graduating from Argosy University with Honors in June 2011. But this is only still only part of my journey. Many chapters of my life have been written and this is just another chapter that is coming to a close to that another one can get started. I constantly challenge myself and make monthly goals of what I want to achieve. From school, work and even personal goals, nothing is too much for me to achieve. I have removed the word failure from my vocabulary and instead have made the decision to do something, and if that does not work, find another path that will work. .

Reflection As stated in my personal statement, I did not start out my educational career at Argosy. I Began attending Barry University in Miami Shores Florida in August of 2006. Regardless of where my educational career began, both schools have taught me discipline. They have also taught me that I can do whatever I put my mind too. Critical thinking and analysis skills are qualities that these find institutions are responsible for instilling in me.

My Future in Learning Human resources consulting is in my future, with my immediate being entry level staff training and development. I have discovered through working with the bank and being involved in many training workshops, that I care about the development of a company and its employees. I always find myself being more interested in the strategies used to train us and the content of the training. I always seem to be the one who is constantly coming up with new and innovative ways to get the employees more excited about the job as well as ways to show them how to be the best at what they are doing. My motto for work life is to dress and act for the position that you want and not the one you have. It has never failed me so far.
