An exclusive presentation on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) and Global Health 2024 by Global Health Council including recent updates until 2024 March.
World Kidney Day was established to raise awareness of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and encourage detection and prevention programs. CKD affects over 20 million Americans and is a major cause of death worldwide. While kidney failure requiring dialysis has increased, CKD is often preventable or treatable through control of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. World Kidney Day aims to educate the public and healthcare professionals about CKD risks and signs through collaborative events around the world each March.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease that damages the myelin sheath surrounding nerves. It is identified by lesions on the brain and spinal cord caused by immune cells attacking myelinated nerves. MS is more common in women than men and in people living in climates with cold weather. Symptoms include weakness, fatigue, visual loss, and cognitive impairment. Depression is the most common psychiatric disorder associated with MS and can negatively impact quality of life. While the exact cause is unknown, risk factors include genetics and viral infections. Treatment options include disease-modifying drugs, psychosocial therapy, and patient education.
Our aim is to alleviate human suffering related to diabetes and its complications among those least able to withstand the burden of the disease. From 2002 to March 2017, the World Diabetes Foundation provided USD 130 million in funding to 511 projects in 115 countries. For every dollar spent, the Foundation raises approximately 2 dollars in cash or as in-kind donations from other sources. The total value of the WDF project portfolio reached USD 377 million, excluding WDFs own advocacy and strategic platforms.

Blood is vital to overall health, as it transports oxygen, fights infections, and connects to every organ. Understanding blood health and conditions is important, as problems can be detected with a blood test. The documentary profiles patients with common blood-related issues like anemia, bleeding disorders, blood clots, and cancers. It also shows researchers using tools like zebrafish to study these conditions and develop new treatments.
Nurses play a critical role in any team of healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with chronic diseases, including Hb disorders such as thalassaemia
and sickle dell disease. These are extremely challenging diseases that are fatal if left untreated.
However, by sharing expert knowledge on their prevention and treatment, these conditions can be effectively managed.
TIF places great importance on nursing as a valued part of patient care well beyond the medical component. We hope that this Guide will help and motivate more nurses across
the world to become involved in the care of patients with this group of diseases.
The document discusses the benefits of a multi-disciplinary diabetes centre model of care compared to other models. A diabetes centre provides comprehensive care through a team that includes doctors, nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, and other specialists. This coordinated model results in better screening and management of complications, standardized processes, shorter wait times, and more flexibility compared to a clinic-based model with rotating doctors. The author argues the centre model can better serve the complex needs of people with diabetes.

A variety of diseases are described that stem cell therapy may help treat, including cardiovascular, liver, bone, neurological, and more. The document outlines the stem cell therapy process and notes it is safe, non-toxic, and without side effects. Pricing for various conditions is also listed. The future of stem cell medicine is described as having great potential. Contact information is provided

Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's, affect millions worldwide, causing progressive loss of structure and function in the nervous system. Early diagnosis, public awareness, and proactive management are critical in combating these debilitating conditions.
This presentation provides an in-depth exploration of: Common neurodegenerative diseases and their impact, Early signs and symptoms to watch for
Risk factors and preventative strategies, current treatment, advocacy and policy, How communities can contribute to supporting patients and families
Griswolds Christopher Kelly MEd, Director of Learning & Development, Dianne Kelly, RN Cardiac Cath Lab Assistant Manager, and a person living with heart disease discuss the nature, causes, symptoms, treatment and impact of heart disease in older adults. This interactive webinar recognizing February as National Heart Awareness Month will also provide a Fight Heart Disease toolkit that provides tools and resources to improve care and quality of life for people with heart disease and their family caregivers.
This document discusses the challenges of caring for elderly patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). It notes that the population is aging rapidly worldwide, increasing the number of elderly patients with kidney disease and ESRD. Caring for elderly ESRD patients is complex due to multiple age-related physiological changes in kidney function as well as high rates of comorbidities. The document advocates for a multidisciplinary approach to care that considers patients' medical, cognitive, functional, and palliative care needs in making treatment decisions for this complex patient population.

The document discusses global burden of disease and key concepts in global health. It summarizes that global burden of disease assessments measure years of life lost to premature mortality and disability worldwide. The leading causes of mortality globally are ischemic heart disease, stroke, lower respiratory infections and COPD, while the highest disease burdens come from lower respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, depression and ischemic heart disease. Noncommunicable diseases like cardiovascular disease are responsible for most deaths globally.
The Dalglish Family Hearts and Minds Clinic for 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome provides specialized care for adults with 22q11.2DS and their families. The clinic offers care from experts in many specialties, education on 22q11.2DS, and cutting-edge research. Patients can expect their first visit to last 4-6 hours as they meet with specialists including a nurse, social worker, and doctor. Follow-up visits are typically 1-2 hours. The clinic aims to become a world leader in 22q11.2DS care, education, and research.

Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder caused by a mutation in the beta-globin chain of hemoglobin. This causes red blood cells to become rigid and sickle-shaped, leading to anemia, pain crises, and damage to organs over time. The most common acute complications are vaso-occlusive pain crises, acute chest syndrome, and stroke. Treatment focuses on prevention, management of pain and infections, and addressing chronic organ damage through screening and medications.
The document discusses strategies for preventing and treating end stage renal disease (ESRD) in developing countries. It notes that treatment is most effective and cost efficient when focused on high-risk groups through measures like screening diabetics and their relatives, and using ACE inhibitors. Kidney transplants are also effective but availability of donors is limited. Developing countries need to expand access to renal replacement therapies while focusing on primary prevention through lifestyle changes and secondary prevention with pharmaceuticals to reduce ESRD burden over time.

Dr. Prakash Sigedar is a consulting orthopedic surgeon who has received several awards and holds leadership positions in orthopedic associations. He summarizes that bone fragility is a major public health problem characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue, leading to fractures. Key points are that it is most common in the elderly and post-menopausal women, and causes pain, disability, and loss of independence from fractures. Prevention through diet, exercise, and medications can help reduce fracture risk and improve bone strength.

The objective is to better understand challenges and engage the community to improve health disparities.
Velo-Cardio Facial Syndrome (VCFS) is a genetic disorder caused by a deletion of chromosome 22 that occurs in approximately 1 in 2,000 births. It is characterized by cardiac abnormalities, palate issues like cleft palate, developmental delays, and a distinct facial appearance. While there is no cure for VCFS, treatment by specialists in areas like cardiology, speech pathology, and psychology can help manage symptoms. With appropriate care and intervention, most people with VCFS can live productive lives.

Vaccines must be kept within a narrow temperature range to remain effective. This document discusses the "cold chain" system used to transport and store vaccines between 2-8属C from manufacture to administration. It describes different vaccine types and the importance of proper storage in refrigerators, cold boxes, or freezers. Temperature monitoring using devices like data loggers is crucial to ensure potency. Exposure to heat, light, or freezing can damage vaccines, so procedures must be followed carefully when handling or transporting them.
