 As all of you know that we all are passing through these unprecedent times.
Entire world has become hostage of this pandemic. In India we just passed
through a 21 days lockdown, which is again extended for next 19 days,
which will end on 3rd of May.
 At this time, we pray withGod for a quick solution for this problem.We have
our thoughts with all the affected people and for the hardship they are
facing.
 The world is set to change post Corona.Things will not be like before. It will
see a major change in world, like we saw after 9/11.Trade equations,
relations will change.We may see a major decline in demands and a bigger
recession in economies.To protect domestic industry, every country will try
to be protective..Custom duties will be increased.
 During the month, the Indian rupee was moving in drastic way between Rs.
72.04 for 1 USD to Rs. 76.30 for 1 USD.

MENTHAPIPERITA
As per the reports
available, many farmers
have decided to do away
with Peppermint
farming this year, which
can lead to shortages of
Pure Peppermint in 2020
crops.Although higher
prices will always be
challenged byAmerican
Peppermint prices, but
an increase in price will
be inevitable. There will
be plenty of material
having synthetic
impurities and
Cornmint, available at
competitive price.As of
now, due to lockdown ,
the real crop progress is
not known, because
travel to fields and
outside is restricted. We
do see at least 10%
increase in the prices of
Peppermint from
present prices as
carryover is also very
low.With lockdown at
present, commercial
activities are completely
stopped.One has to see
impact of slowing
demand due to COVID
vs Lesser production of
peppermint in India.

Before the start of lockdown in India,
i.e. 24th March, the crop progress was
going well. Plantation of mint arvensis
is done by two methods in India. One
is root sowing, which is finished.
Another method is transplantation. As
of now, lockdown is going on, so an
impact of farming can not be ruled out
One must carefully watch, if there will
be any reduction in crop because of
Lockdown. Government has ordered
opening of Fertilizers, pesticides
shops, so as farmers get all the inputs,
but still there is a difference in free
flow of work, in lock down time vs
normal time.
Another issue right now is availability
of labor in some areas. Also farmers
are not able to sell their produce,
which is giving them financial
hardship.
As of now, all physical trading is
stopped. Traders can not work, but still
MCX is going on. The volume on MCX is
very less, but still prices are increasing
heavily in spot market.
Once the lockdown will be over, or
shipments will be allowed, there would
be lots of demand for spot and
immediate shipments, as customers are
running dry and even secondary market
(China) is sitting with no stocks.
However in the longer term, there are
several factors, which will support
prices going down, which includes,
demand cut due to shrinkage of world
economy, and temporary ban on
production of Chewing gums and
Mouth freshener (Pan masala).
In the present situation, please buy only
according to your need. Meanwhile, we
hope that world will be overcome from
this pandemic in next couple of months.

SPEARMINTOIL
Plantation of Spearmint has seen a
sharp decline. Prices are expected to
increase. However as usual, these will be
guided by synthetic l-carvone.
Spearmint crop is also facing same
challenges in lockdown, as farmers of
Peppermint and Arvensis.
ANETHOLE/ METHYL CHAVICOL/
INDIAN BASIL OIL
Lots of Basil has been consumed in herbal sanitizing applications in
India. Stocks available are less, and prices are high.

LEMONGRASS OIL
Prices for Lemongrass has increased again, as due to very low profitability some farmers
are doing away from this crop.
