man answered a want ad for an
accountant. Now he was being
interviewed by a very nervous man who
ran a small business that he had started

degree,” the man said. “But mainly, I’m

“Excuse me?” the accountant said.

GENERALCOMMENTS
✓The Coronavirus problem is not coming to end, and
situation in countries like India is getting worse. However
people are now overocoming fear and coming back to
normal life gradually.The idea is to keep your immunity
boosted and back to work and support economy.
✓The year is of new normals, and most of the new normals
are abnormal. This is first mint season, when we dont have
a single visitor visiting us to see mint harvesting and
distillation.
✓During the month, the Indian rupee was moving in between
Rs. 75.97 for 1 USD to Rs. 75.26 for 1 USD.

MENTHAPIPERITA
Piperita distillation is
going on in full swing
and material is
arriving in market.
This year, not much
high menthofuran
material is produced
in first cut and
majority of the
material is in 3-4%
menthofuran range.
Due to cash crisis and
less buying following
lockdown, prices
have become slightly
weak. As of now 5%
menthofuran oil is Rs
2650-2700/Kg at
farm level. However
we do expect that
prices will bounce
back to higher levels.
Arvensis prices are
weak as usual, so the
commercial qualities
will remain
competetive.
However the year will
be pretty expensive
and tough for pure
quality Peppermint.
Our recommendation
is to keep buying.

So finally, distillation has started.
Although weather seems not very
supportive this year. Frequent and
intermittent rains are disturbing the
distillation. The yield this year so far is
also average at 55-60 Kgs per acre,
which is 10-15% less compared to last
year.
The impact of COVID & lockdown is
minimum on mint crops. Farm level
activities were not restricted during
lockdown. So farmers had access to
fertilizers, pesticides etc. The positive
side was, because of lockdown
farmers were having plenty of time,
which they spent in taking care of
their farms.
The crop is being estimated around
55000 MT at present yield, and
carryover is around 10000 MT. So total
available material is comfortably
exceeding world demand. With no
news of any disruption in synthetic
production, majority of customers are
sitting calm.
Three factors are indicating a downward
trend in price. Which are, A good
production and carryover combination,
Increased supply of synthetics and
Expected reduction in global demand
due to COVID19.
But there are still two factors which
outweighs these assessments. The
farmers have got financial assistance
from Government due to COVID and
they don’t need much money, as
marriages and most expenses are on
hold. So in this situation, it is expected
that farmers will take back majority of
oil with them, and very little oil will
come in open market for selling.
Moreover another factor is investors
and stockists. Due to COVID situation
most business opportunities are down,
and many investors stockists are looking
to take advantage by investing in crude
Mentha oil if available at very attractive
price. Accordingly customers should
keep covering the material at present
price levels. The real price benefit may
not be available before Q4 2020.

SPEARMINTOIL
Distillation of Spearmint is going on right
now. Crop is lesser by 30-40% compared to
last year. Prices have increased very much
and expected to increase further. This is a
good time to get some good quality
spearmint.
ANETHOLE/ METHYL CHAVICOL/
INDIAN BASIL OIL
Situation remain unchanged. Prices increasing heavily with negligible availability.
Indian basil oil is in huge shortage this year. Some people are finding its usage in
immunity increasing herbal medicines to fight Coronavirus.

LEMONGRASS OIL
Situation unchanged. Prices of Lemongrass have increased little bit. India is producing good
quality oil regularly, however adulteration is a major problem.
