Profile:
I am passionate about engineering and innovation. I enjoy challenges and
expanding my knowledge and am keen to work in an organisation with similar
minded people. I am interested in working and gaining knowledge in design and
manufacturing and their applications in real life situations. I am currently busy
obtaining my glider pilots license with the aim to obtain my private pilots license.
The aerospace intrigues me as well as the ammunition used for defence or
demolition. I’m passionate about the structural field as well. I have gained work
experience in a mechanical workshop where the focus was on repairing and
modifying interlink trailers as well as building and extending of new trailers. I have
also worked at a company where B-grade wires are processed into useable
products. In total, I have nearly thirteen months of practical experience
encountering real life mechanical situations. I also have seventeen months of low
voltage electrical experience as well as management and maintenance.
I am able to give my best while working directly with leading engineers so that I
can gain further hands on experience. I am flexible, and adaptable, and able to
pick ideas up quickly and take action, under instruction, and meet project
objectives and deliverables. My reliability, communication skills, responsibility and
friendly nature are assets I would bring to the work.

Practical skills gained during my degree
The main skill obtained through my degree was to take a problem that presented
itself, analyse the problem by using theoretical calculations as well as simulations
to generate an appropriate solution. The solution to the problem had to be
implemented and controlled to see if the solution fits the need as stated. Another
skill acquired is to be able to design a proper part for any given application and to
make material selections with costing in mind. A lot of time was also spent on
analysing existing hardware to find open spaces for improvements, to develop
such improvements and implement it. Mostly all the problems encountered during
my studies had a few solutions to each, but the main focus was laid on choosing
the most efficient and economical solution. All the needed calculations as well as
simulations had to be documented to provide suitable prove as to why the specific
solution were to be implemented and if any future improvements would be
possible on the applied solution.
Project
My final year project has allowed me to develop both theoretical and practical
skills including project management, finding appropriate methods, conducting
research, designs and analysis, manufacturing and installation. Writing up a full
research project and giving an oral presentation on my findings was also a big
part of the project. The main project I worked on was constructing a Sailplane
Winch platform. I was responsible for the design and construction of the control
room with all the needed hardware as well as software to be able to control the
winch and execute emergency procedures if necessary. I learned lot from the
project with focus on problem solving, new ideas presentation and implementing.
Working in a group was a good addition to my abilities. A lot of technical design
considerations were done to ensure the completion of the project in time and on
budget. All and all the project ended on a good note with great progress.

Relevant work experience
November 2012 - January 2013 Fitter and turner at Blairhairn
Engineering
This is an engineering company which builds and repairs trucks and trailers. In
this summer job my duties were to assist in the reparation of trucks and trailers.
Assist in planning, design and building truck trailers. Turning and fitting parts for
the building of the trailers.
Every vacation between June 2015 and July 2016 Student
assistant at Benidiccio Trading
This company processes B-grade wires into usable products. This vacation job has
expanded my knowledge in re-using otherwise unusable materials and creating a
profitable new product. My duties here were fitting and turning, electrical
installations and connections, machine design and building, part manufacturing
and maintenance on wire processing machinery.
Other work experience
January 2010- December 2010 Assistant Electrician at P&Y
electrical contractors
My duties at this company was to build all mechanical structures for electrical
needs. All electrical assistance. Installation of centrifugal pumps and the
overhauling of motors used for pumps.
October 2013- February 2014 Manager at P&A services and
solutions
Here I managed workers and incoming jobs, bookkeeping on pastel and designing
and building of all mechanical structures for all electrical needs.
November 2016 – January 2017 GIS intern at MUSS
I am an intern currently with the duty to sort through data and use the data in
constructing 2D GIS maps for visual explanation use.
