- 2. Що приходить вам в голову, коли ви чуєте слово «хан»? Правитель? Вождь племені? Титул в стародавній Монголії? Зірка в сузір'ї Змієносця? Народ в Канаді? Адміністративна одиниця в Японії? 31 літера грузинської абетки? Місто на заході Німеччини? А як щодо словосполучення «Академія Хана»? Незвично, чи не так?
- 3. Насправді Академія Хана - це міжнародна освітня мережа. Її засновник, випускник Гарварду і МІТ Салман Хан почав з того, що колись пояснював матеріал шкільної програми своїм двоюрідним братам і сестрам і так загорівся цією ідеєю, що з часом вирішив робити освітні відео і розміщувати результати своєї праці на каналі YouTube.
- 4. Це почалося в 2006 році. Відео були у відкритому доступі, і їх міг подивитися хто завгодно. З часом ті, які з ними ознайомилися, почали писати Салману листи подяки.
- 5. І це надихнуло Салмана створювати все нові і нові відео. Вони були неформальними, ніби навчальний матеріал пояснює не вчитель, а старший брат, в них містилися жарти. Тому через деякий час відео Салмана Хана почали дивитися тисячі людей по всьому світу.
- 6. Поступово до Хана приєдналися інші молоді люди, які підхопили його ідею всесвітньої освітньої мережі в Інтернеті. Зараз до складу команди входять 46 учасників.
- 7. Мета академії — «надання високоякісної освіти кожному, всюди».
- 8. Уроки Салмана Хана (а їх вже більше двох тисяч) невеликі, тривалістю від 5 до 15 хвилин. Вони присвячені різним предметам, темам і дисциплінам: математиці, біології, фізики, хімії, астрономії, економіці, історії та багатьом іншим наукам.
- 9. Все будується від простого до складного, буквально від прикладу «двічі два - чотири» до університетського курсу вищої математики.
- 10. Навчання проходить у формі комп'ютерної гри - там є підказки, бали, рівні. Всі завдання розбиті на модулі. Можна побачити графік особистого прогресу, те, скільки відео ви подивилися, який рівень знань з того чи іншого навчального предмету і наскільки він поліпшується, скільки часу присвячено перегляду відео та виконанню завдань. І є інший графік - для батьків або наставників. На ній вони можуть подивитися, які теми з усього курсу пройдено і скільки часу цьому приділено.
- 13. Проект підтримується за допомогою пожертвувань, при цьому значна частина пожертвувань припадає на Google та Фонд Білла і Мелінди Гейтс. У 2010 році Google анонсував, що пожертвує 2 млн доларів на створення більшої кількості курсів та переклад на найбільш використовувані мови.
- 14. Лекції надані англійською мовою, діє проект з перекладу лекцій на інші мови, підтримуваний волонтерами.
